Well was going to post how Dave Clawson just won his first bowl game as a first year head coach in D-1 football, but it seems it's not destined to be haha. Oh well that makes me even more glad that the "Clawfense" is gone, couldn't even beat Idaho. Go VOLS!!!

His offense wasn't the problem today.

It scored 42 points. The offense had nothing to do with the loss.

After watching the Bowling Green and Idaho game, I am convinced that we did not see Dave Clawsons full potential as an OC last season. This cemented to me that Phil was in total control of that train wreck. Granted, they were playing Idaho, but the BG offense looks good. Its funny how Tennessee players couldnt "grasp" the Clawson offense but the BG players appeared to have no problem.

When the D plays a 10 yard cushion, and the safety doesn't come over to help in cover 2 it's gonna make alot of offenses look good

You are exactly correct that the offense wasn't the problem. But as HC he is ultimately responsible for all aspects of the game. Yes, the production this season vindicated him as a coordinator at the lower level, but not as a head coach. But just trying to show that he didn't belong at this level. Sorry if I provided an incorrect synopsis of the game tonight, that was not my intention. Just trying to state that I'm glad he is no longer our OC. Sorry for the confusion. I guess it's pre-new years celebration getting to me. Happy New Year's to you all, and Go Big Orange!!

Wait...so you were going to congratulate him, but since his team lost, you're going to say that his offense sucks? I'm not following that logic.

He loses 4 starters on his O-line for next year too
So this could hvae been be his beat team for a couple of years

Glad Idaho pulled it out...

I don't think we ever seen his offense. The offense he put on the field didn't look much different from what we ran for years and certainly didn't look anything like what BGU runs.
In the right situation, he very well might belong at this level.

Well gonna get burned on this one, and I understand that. I wasn't referring to the offense, I was referring to the coaching abilities of Clawson that I saw falter just like last year. I was going to congratulate him for doing something after coming off a such horrendous year, but obviously can't at this point. Man if I could find the delete the thread button, I definitely would delete it. It sounded good in my head but obviously didn't translate to everyone else. Guess there goes my credibility as a poster.

Nothing wrong with your credibility, I just think he was throttled by the head coach then kinda had the blame laid at his feet by fans and Mr Fulmer.

Fulmerites will always hold Clawson responsible for his firing even though it's plain to see "his" offense wasn't ran at UT.

He proved last year, he couldn't even be an OC in the SEC
Just so we're clear, you don't understand why people have disdain for Fulmer, the guy who ran the Vols off the tracks and took them over the cliff, but you're perfectly content to throw Clawson under the bus whenever the opportunity presents itself because he was a small part in Fulmer's final failure as a coach?
