He's also showing, with his refusal to use the portal, that he can't/won't adapt to the times. Those who won't adapt, won't be successful as recruiting changes.

Remains to be seen. They have a good class in 2023. I hope they fall off the map completely but I have my doubts. Remember they are replacing both their OC and long time DC. Venables is one of the best DCs there is. That’s tough to replace.

And rather than go searching for the talent he lost, he bumped up from in-house. What happens at Bama when talent leaves? Coaches want to work with Saban. They show up from the NFL even or as analysts for little money. Dabo? Not so much.

Though Clemson was able to make the final score look better than the game was for them, I don’t see any evidence that they’re going to be able to challenge Alabama or Georgia for the national title with DJU still at QB.

Dabo's refusal to adapt to the times is the end of this Clemson run. They took zero players from the transfer portal. He hates it. The only other schools to take zero were the service academies.
He hates the Portal, he hates NIL, lost both coordinators, and lost his AD. Also has repeatedly publicly bitched about those first two things.

I'm not saying their run as a premier program is over, but I will say that there is reason for concern there after the down year they had last year.

I agree with him on the NIL and portal but if they are gonna stay a national powerhouse they/he will HAVE TO ADAPT! No way you can win these days without doing what everyone else is doing and using the two options.

The thing about somebody like Dabo complaining is that it does not matter what his opinion is. That is for fans, the media, etc. to discuss.

Dabo is paid millions to do a job, and it is just a bad look to publicly whine about changes in your industry, particularly when you are the head coach/leader of the program. If he does not like it, perhaps he should just quit, which is said he would do if players ever started getting paid.

The cynic in me also thinks that it isn't that Dabo doesn't like NIL/transfers per se; it is that he thinks his philosophy on how you run a program doesn't work very well with those things. If there were changes in the sport that he thought fit in well with what he was doing, or thought he could adapt to them, then I don't think he'd be complaining.
