You don't worry about what we can learn from species of animals? What about the potential lost medical advances because of the rain forest? I am not a climate guy. If you read my original post you will see that. I do not think we have a positive impact on the environment. Doesn't mean I think we are doomed bc of it or that we are the root of climate change. But to believe we shouldn't think about our impact is retarded. Even with regard to our own health.

Lol. Hell no I do not worry. Life is good. Enjoy it.

We live in a country and era that is as good as this world has ever seen. Some people insist on finding something to fret over.

If all the climate hype is true, I'm wondering how people will react to the millions of third world refugees. Because those areas will be the first ones hit.

Well I can tell you how the ones saying it's definitely not true will react.

Pretty sure conservatives/right wingers just as good at creating fear. From wars to gays destroying your marriage.

The right creates fear based the pursuit by the left to destroy all tranditions in this country.. Like men go the men's rooms and woman go to the women's room.. Somehow this is suddenly a big deal of where the transgender go and not go...

You don't think that there maybe things we can learn from species of plants and animals that only exist in those environments that could drastically help man kind? Who gives a **** about curing long list of diseases. You do realize that many diseases have been cured by plants rights? Not the play or animal itself but the learnings from studying it. Next to the oceans the Rain forests are the least understood areas on earth. But **** it. Let's build condos and pass on curing Parkinson's, or cancer....

LOL.

In other words, the right's fear mongering is justified because you agree with their bullsh**.

Climate change exists, and humans are probably significant contributors. I also believe that the doomsday climate prophets are exaggerating as usual. My disagreements come with those who use it as a cover for drastically increased government control of certain industries and regulations. And also the people who claim to care about climate change and dismiss nuclear as an option *cough* Bernie *cough*.

Correct. One can acknowledge the fact that, just like in all other industries, some entities(whether private or government) are trying to take advantage of the more extreme views and financially benefit from them. I condemn such practices because pretending to be altruistic for profit is pure scumbaggery, and I hate giving the government more power.

All that being said, to deny humanity's affect on climate change is straight up ignorance and denial of the highest order. We are ****ing **** up. The main question at this point is, how bad have we ****ed it up, and how should we try and fix it if it is at all feasible?

The optimistic side of me thinks maybe we can mitigate some of the damage and potentially get to a point with clean energy that it becomes more viable than fossil fuels in the hopefully near future. The pessimistic side of me thinks it's already too late and, practically, not much we can do at this point will change the course we're already on.

I prefer a house over a condo. Need my space.

There are so many amazing enthiogenic plant and mycological life forms in the rain forest that could send me even further than Pluto, and dude wants them gone forever.

Awww....Climate change mafia getting down!

Keep up the fear!

So you are in the camp that nature has never helped us solve medical issues? Please point to me where I stated we are responsible for climate change? I did state we are bad for the environment. How that is debatable is ludicrous

There are many variables that could lead to climate change.
It could be happening, it could be caused by the spike in CO2 levels, and it could be a real problem in the future.
Since 1800 the climate has increased erratically by 1 degree Celsius, and CO2 levels have only been high enough to cause change since the 1960's.
There is absolutely no way that we can predict what will happen to our climate in the future.
The media, politicians and environmentalist are using this as a scare to sell headlines, get votes/money, and gather more money for their organization/confirmation of their beliefs.

I'm always amused when people will quote a scientist they agree with and use them as an authority but ignore all the ones that don't.

Plus does this MIT professor have a name?

People improve the enviroent, the space in which we live. Humans make things better, well not all, some are useless, like you.

Improving the space we live is not the same as improving the environment.

Paved roads and parking lots improve our space, but also decrease the amount of space water can seep back into the earth which increases flooding.

Richard Lindzen. I have no place to agree or disagree with him. I could just as easily cite NASA and go on about how climate change is not only real but blatantly obvious. But I do think that this issue needs to be debated amongst scientists, not politicians. IMO.
