I was observing the GA game and sinking into the abyss of uncreative playcalling, when BAM!...I started seeing images of shifts and misdirection...using receivers like Pig and North on the edge...read option looking FAST TWITCH...What Orange bewitching be this? Not jumping the gun, but this is a tease of what I envisioned of the offense...when muscle memory develops and kicks in, our Vols will become the aggressor and dictate the pace of games=WINS Everyone divide into your groups and form your synopsis of my insane optimism...BE CREATIVE :)

Agreed. When I watched the replay, I noticed alot of the same thing. Up until this point, I really didn't understand what we were trying to do in this offense. You really have to get people in the right position and throw the defense off step for the single back running offense to work well.

It's amazing how people's perception of the play calling changes when the same plays actually start working. JMO

When it clicks, it makes sense huh?...and they keep adding nuances and tweaks...probably necessitating the continued use of Worley...oh no frosh fans just woke up!

The biggest problem we have with running the read option now is we don't have a QB running threat. You have to have a QB that can run to optimize a read option offense.

Every offensive play ever designed will result in a score if perfectly executed. The exact same play can and often will result in disaster when poorly executed. It isn't a difficult concept. Some fans are just very slow to grasp it.

In theory yes if you are discounting a perfectly executed defensive set or read and adjustment.

Makes no difference what the defense does. You hear offensive coordinators say all the time, it's not about what the defense does, it's about us executing. Perfect execution will result in a score every time, but perfect execution rarely happens.

Oregon may be as close as anyone to the exception. Their execution is exceptional the majority of the time.

A perfectly executed play will go absolutely nowhere if it's not the right play call. That's pretty simple to understand.

Again, when your team can barely execute a kneel, you're pretty limited in what you can do.

This is completely false. A perfectly executed QB sneak won't result in a score. A perfectly executed FB dive won't result in a score. Perfect execution results in the goal of the play being accomplished. It's not like if everyone does their job the defense just leaves the field. You still have to make a play after you get the ball in order to score.

So the defense has nothing to do with the play.

OK Coach. Nick Saban disagrees.

Well lets hope that this off week will allow them to install some more wrinkles, practice execution, and help Worley get a better handle on the O. If they can do the last two on this list then we will be ok.

Every week has been about installation and repetition...now we're seeing a little confidence in execution

I totally understand the point being made and agree but muscles don't have memory. If muscles had memory then people who are brain dead could move.
