Coach Jon Gruden

That would be hilarious if, after nearly a decade and a half of Grumours at various P5 programs, Gruden ended up at USF.

Don't think it will happen with his baggage. But would be funny.
Hopefully Chuckie will be bama bound.;)

Never saw the fascination with Gruden. He is below .500 and at best a very average coach. Just like Mike leach.

You take away his one good year, his first, and his record gets way worse real fast. Never came close to repeating.

I think what he'll eventually get another chance. But not even getting into all that, he's one of the most overrated coaches I've ever seen. He's was living on 20 year old glory and being an entertaining commentator.

And the Super Bowl he won had more to do with Tony Dungy's defense than any particular brilliance by Gruden. He truly is one of the most overrated coaches of all-time. Don't know why people were so obsessed with him; I think he would've flopped here.

Jim Mora is a good comparison. Mora improved results at UCLA for the first few years; likely due to being a better play-caller and strategist (typical in the NFL). But his results plunged by Year 4 where his lack of player development and recruiting evaluation started to show up. And same thing for Charlie Weis at Notre Dame; looked good first 2 years, before getting exposed. Gruden was never known for player development anyway; so it probably would've been a similar thing here; results look better in Years 1 and 2, and then a steep dropoff after that.

You are correct with most everything that you said, but it would still be the biggest hire USF could hope to possibly make. They should jump on getting him immediately. As far as the so called baggage goes, every woke on espn even admitted that Gruden is not a racist.

No chance he lands at USF. We’re broke in regards to athletic budget. Just another story put out by his agent to keep his name in the news.

and who wants to embrace the racial impacts of his comments and emails and bring them into their collegiate program? Not I at UT ever.
It looks like it would be tough for him to recruit. Maybe he could explain away those e-mails, but who wants to take a chance on that?

3 chances? I don't care what anyone says, the UT job was never a thought in Grudens mind. It was all manufactured by desperate idiots

I still laugh about the people that tried to fake picture they claimed to take of Gruden that were easily Googled.

I was more referring to him not shutting down the discussion and playing with fans emotions.
One of Jon Gruden's sons, Michael, was an undergraduate in the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee (a marketing major) in the fall of 2017, and Jon attended at least one home game with him. Gruden never discouraged the chatter, which he had to know was taking place. There was an authentic picture taken of him, with Michael, at a game in Neyland in 2017 which made the rounds on VolNation ... regardless of what has been posted in this thread.

For what it's worth, today Michael Gruden is a manager of the Chateau Nightclub and Rooftop located near the Eiffel Tower replica, in the Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Sounds like he is doing well for himself ... and he reps Tennessee whenever he can.
