Coach Jon Gruden

I was more referring to him not shutting down the discussion and playing with fans emotions.
I wouldn't even say that, he never came out and said he was interested. Not defending the guy but his answer was always the same "I'll never say never but I'm not interested". It was folks on here who were watching Monday night football trying to decide his tie color, following MNF Trucks, going to private airports etc. who manufactured that whole story. Everyone was so desperate to find anything that linked this guy to UT, my favorite was he owns land in east Tennessee, well no sh!t, people with money own property every where. Other than being a GA here and meeting his wife here, Gruden is just a fan of the school and has no other connections. He never lead anyone on, just folks saw it as that because they were let down by the conspiracy theory's and they gave one idiot (MIT Beaver) a pedestal to stand on for a few weeks.

One of Jon Gruden's sons, Michael, was an undergraduate in the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee (a marketing major) in the fall of 2017, and Jon attended at least one home game with him. Gruden never discouraged the chatter, which he had to know was taking place. There was an authentic picture taken of him, with Michael, at a game in Neyland in 2017 which made the rounds on VolNation ... regardless of what has been posted in this thread.

For what it's worth, today Michael Gruden is a manager of the Chateau Nightclub and Rooftop located near the Eiffel Tower replica, in the Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Sounds like he is doing well for himself ... and he reps Tennessee whenever he can.
Lol he loves football, he came to Knoxville to visit his son and go to a game. People ran with it, good lord, not everyone has to answer for what they do in their free time. He didn't owe anyone an explanation, I'm sure he attends high school games in Tampa in his free time.

That is not entirely true. His son Michael, was a student at UT in the fall of 2017, and Jon did attend at least one game with him in Neyland. Should that have fueled as much speculation as it did concerning his interest in the Tennessee head coaching job? Of course not, but there was more of a connection, at least at the time, then what you are describing.

Fans are going to do that during a coaching search. His son being a student here during a coaching search was worth mentioning, when discussing Gruden's connections to UT.
Yes, his son went to college here. No, that does not link him to the UT job. I'm glad this took care of itself so when the next one rolls around we don't have to hear this foolishness anymore

I didn't say it did, but it was a connection to the University of Tennessee at the time of the 2017 coaching search.

A connection to UT yes but the folks who ran with this crap to create more rumors were really reaching. What's worse is now people blame him for stringing UT along because of stuff like that. I guess in those folks minds he should have either pulled his son from UT or not visit him until the search was over. You don't stop living your life because some folks aren't smart enough to separate fiction from non fiction
