If my threads start getting low numbers I promise to consider heavily further future posts. But right now, they seem to be getting viewed and feedback,,, Isn't that the purpose of this forum. The only useless part of this whole bulletin board thing is when personal attacks and vendettas like the one that I have with bearcat... those are the posts I dread and that I am sorry even happen.

I won't start a thread just to get my name out V4L ,,, I hope never to be that type of poster.

Thanks,
I don't have a vendetta with you lol. If you weren't such an attention whore. I would barely know you exist.....I know that just kills the narcissism that just flows through you.

I really enjoy reading Coach Jumper's comments. Instead of just bashing he explain his thoughts. Wish he would give Hart an earful of advice.

Absolutely mind-boggling that the Lady Vols have only 4 more wins than the men this year. Holly is the female equivalent of Johnny Jones.

I worked with an AD... They are aware of more than people think. And this is called "social media" for a reason. They may not read it themselves, but you can rest assured they aren't totally unaware of it.

And thanks for the kind words of backing. My venue is a unique one, yes, but my intentions are sincere. I only care about those kids. My preferred coaching venue is a court with 10-13 players during summer. Sure wish Knoxville would present more opportunity to coach though. AAU here is minimal opportunity so far.

Might be an overall improvement if you cleaned up your grammar. Your punctuation seems odd... this will not cut it when you correspond with Hart.

writer claims AAU is nothing but streetball and takes no coaching skill

Not sure if I have even heard of Al Woods Recruiting ( The writer of the article).... Then again, he may be in the dark about Coach Jumper.

************
In the article:
The "author" questions:
**The level of coaching
**Structure of practices and games
**Some AAU programs are in the wrong hands.

((the same 3 statements might be argued about this years LV's program))

++++++++

He states that the only advantage that AAU basketball has over high school basketball is recruiting. When it comes to recruiting, it makes financial sense to attend an AAU basketball tournament where hundreds of players are competing...At the high school level, there may be one or two players who may be worth seeing and it does not make financial sense to attend one high school game and maybe get lucky to see one player.
Maybe youÂ’re in a situation where the high school coach is a jerk and does not or will not lift a finger to assist in the recruiting process.

Your reference is a heading, not a statement.

"AAU Basketball Is Nothing More Than Just Street Ball"

The heading is followed by:

"IÂ’ve seen a lot of AAU basketball games and it looks like thereÂ’s very little coaching that goes on.
In some ways, AAU basketball looks like a game of pickup basketball and the players and coaches are making it up as they go along.

The article then states:
"At the AAU level, the travel is on chartered buses and many of the teams travel by air.""

On and my favorite quote:
"Maybe youÂ’re in a situation where the high school coach is a jerk and does not or will not lift a finger to assist in the recruiting process..."

+++++++++++++

This guy calls himself a recruiter and attacks both AAU and HS in the same article.... Nope,,, Not impressed.

Everyone has an opinion. About AAU or the Lady Vols...

And you know what they say about opinions.... Yes, I will say it.... "An opinion is like a bunghole, everybody has one, and only their own doesn't stink".

A lot of people coach AAU who know nothing about basketball. AAU is like pick up basketball with "coaches." It is great for getting exposure to college coaches though. It serves a huge need. "Coaching" in AAU is almost non existent though.

And a lot of people who know a lot about coaching coach AAU too.. . . . . That is pure BS AAU is pick-up BB. ................Capital B capital S

If AAU is lacking in Knoxville it is because the good ol boy network won't give people not from here, a chance...."If you ain't from here, you ain't coaching".... As long as that mentality prevails, you are correct with your Knoxville assessment of AAU.

Elsewhere, I disagree totally

The issue with the LV's started with Holly's first recruiting class. She has recruited some very good athletics that have steadily regressed. We did not notice this so much until this year. As you recall most of Holly's success resulted from players recruited by PS. Not only did these players have talent but they were on floor leaders. Harrison, Massengale and Burdick were full of fire on the floor, all recruited by PS. Now looking back at this past season who do you see as being the on floor leader? For three games Diamond looked like the on floor leader but Holly changed the offense and went back to yester year.

You not only recruit talent but you also recruit leaders with talent. When I coached I always wanted to identify my on floor leader who would carry my message on the floor. To me this team lacks that leadership. I still believe if Holly went to what worked, prior to the MSU debuckle, Diamond could be that floor leader.

All DD needs is a coach with more ambition, personality and a stronger will, than DD has. She had that in AAU and she wore people out..... She rarely had a problem with performance in AAU.

The AAU game has grown. The college game experiencing a stunt in growth...... there are more elite players being produced and less elite level coaches entering the collegiate ranks.

Colleges have got to start hiring AAU coaches or the game will continue to outgrow them. . . This is shown by the lack of parity at the very top... Going the way of the dinosaur is is Duke, Tenn, Stanford, others... Rolling with the flow is UConn, ND and very few others.

AAU is putting out more learned athletes and they are going to coaches who haven't grown in/with the sport.... They get frustrated because they know as much as the coaches at some schools.

I was involved with AAU for years. There are some decent coaches. Lets be honest though. Players don't work on their fundamentals or develop many new skills during AAU season. Its good for someone who plays out of position in hs to play their college position. Coaching AAU definitely doesn't qualify people to go around presenting themselves as "coach" so and so.

I agree.... I was just kidding..... I coach AAU and agree that it's not that high level as far as coaching goes and claiming someone balled out in AAU tourneys is a ridiculous comparison to high major basketball.

I don't know whether to mute you, correct you or laugh at your snobbish ways. . . If you didn't see a high level of coaching it was because you weren't watching a high level AAU team.

There are planty of amateur coaches in AAU, just as there are coaches that are in over their head in college (ummm,,,, errr,, ehum).

Such a generalizing statement...
