I am not a uconn fan, but they will be in the mix for final 4’s, probably for years to come.
In the mix with a bunch of other teams IMO. I don't see them making it this year. They will get beaten by teams with strong inside games. They lost two of their best players in program history from a team that was vulnerable, and they won't be better next year. Too many other teams will have better pieces to make a deep run. Their OOC performance will say alot about their prospects.

One thing bugs me about U Con ( one N) is the schedule they play- Year after year they might play 4-5 teams that are a challenge - rest of games inside conference and most outside are a joke winning by 30 -40 points
They don't have the grind of SEC- ACC - Big Ten and others where injuries might occur and so on - U Con just have a bunch of scrimmages

UCONN hasnt won it all in 3 seasons now. Surely, a real fan would know that simple fact. And people still liked the post, not knowing facts. Id be surprised if UCONN won this upcoming season as well. Four years without a title would be surprising coming aftera 4 peat. Oregon will be tough to beat, barring injuries.
3 years without a championship while making the final four all 3 years is the start of the swan dive (as another poster describes it) ?
Winning a championship every year use to be the expectation for our program. Now, it appears, a large portion of our fanbase has that same expectation about uconn.
While, at the same time, not having made the final four in a decade has reduced our hopes to getting back into the top 20 and making it to the sweet sixteen.
Misery truly loves company.

Such general statements. Can you share some specifics? What teams do you believe are in the mix for the final four? What teams have strong inside games that will beat them? What teams have better pieces?

NewDog, you ain't housebroken are ya?

This a LV fan board, and we are saying that Uconn is on the down slide. I am sure your compatriots on the Boneyard would disagree so why don't you go howl with them?
I was wondering if "NewDog" isn't just an old dog from the far north wanting to warm up down here. Seems to know a lot about UCONN.

UConnJob has slowly started their swan dive. They aren't in a P5 conference so their revenue is way less and facilities will struggle to keep up with other programs. Elite recruits are starting to notice. While UConn still recruits very well they are down from their peak days and still trending downward slowly as they lose more and more elite recruits to ND, Baylor, Stanford and even Louisville. Sooooon: Tennessee will out recruit them too (fingers crossed).

Geno better hope the ACC or B1G let them come crawling in.
We will see. UConn still does an outstanding job recruiting and has a good coach.
This just seems like wishful thinking by a lady vol fan who wishes we were still in the conversation for national championship, as we all do. Thanks again to U.T. Administration and holly for the condition our program is in now.

Swan dive?

They signed the No. 1 and No. 5 recruits in 2018.

They signed No. 21, a top European guard, a double double grad transfer and a No. 1 (2017) transfer from a school you might be familiar with for 2019.

They signed the No. 1 recruit and a great European guard for 2020 with more to come.

No, they didn't win it all the last two seasons (on edit three seasons), but making the final four both years is not a downturn.

The AAC hasn't impacted UConn's recruiting. You win some and you lose some in the recruiting battles.
Sign up here to get yourself all worked up? Save that pep talk for your own board. Your Huskies are great...no one’s arguing. But we don’t worship your team.

The time to look at a team and say where they will be base on their coach or wat they have is gone. This is 2019 & almost 10 teams are very good to compete.

I'm not worked up at all. I don't expect anyone to worship UConn. Not sure why you thought to say that.

It wasn't a pep talk, just information. I agree with you. Huskies are great.

If you can't base how a team will do by who their coach is and who they have on the team, then what possible criteria would you use ?

Other than my slipup on how many years since UConn won a title, what isn't real information about what I posted?
Information doesn’t have all the rah rah bs. You didn’t have a stellar class last year, so you’re hyping transfers. You’re practically reciting your media guide. 😏. Quit acting like you’re an objective journalist. You have no interest in exchanges with us. 😴

By last year do you mean the 2018 freshman class? Can't be that one.

Transfers are a huge part of WCBB. Last year's NCAA championship game MVP was a transfer. South Carolina had two transfer play a big role in their championship. Same with Notre Dame.

The two transfers are going to be a big part of UConn's success this coming season. I'm hopeful that Westbrook will get to play this year. And the Senior Grad transfer scored 28 points agains Tennessee last year. She will contribute.

The point of my original post was to counter the claim that UConn is in a swan dive.

See my response to your other question in the other thread.

I also think I can safely say that Oregon, TAMU, Maryland, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Oregon State, and Baylor will all have a decided advantage in the frontcourt matchups. All but MSST (at least at the start of the season) have guards that are either better or just as good as UConn's.

At least we are still in a power 5 conference and one of the best conferences. UConn leaving the P5 assures Geno of padding his win record which I am sure he wanted to do. He now has to travel all over the Southeast and a bit of Texas. Outside of UCF and Cincinnati he has no conference competition al all.

With as many distractions Auriemma has outside of basketball, it’s a miracle the Huskies are still in the Final Four every year. With at least six restaurants and a wine business to run, I figure he’ll eventually get too old and too tired to do it all and will hand over the coaching whistle to someone else.

He has a great business plan and capable managers! And he doesn’t age because he rubs embryos on his skin every morning.
