Coach Martin continues to impress...

I think you are overstating the role of the search firm.

This. It's still his decision, iirc the committee just gets some candidates.

IIRC Martin met with Hamilton, Hamilton said we can't let him leave Knoxville, and they called him back to hire him before he left town.

Think Hammy definitely deserves some credit for that.

Does anybody worry about him having too much success? If he makes a deep run into the tourny theres a good chance that a blue blooded program might come calling. UT can match any other fan base but can they match the $$$?

What "blue blood" do you envision coming calling?

We were paying Bruce a pretty fair sum by the end IIRC.

Well i hear Ben Howland is somewhat on the hot seat. If he screws up this amazing recruiting class he has UCLA might be fed up. Since his last final four he's since spiraled downward. Its amazing how enough money can persuade someone.

How much does he make a year? After this year i can assume they'll extend his contract.

Thats good to hear. Hopefully if it came to that, UT could have a counter offer Martin wouldn't refuse. I'd like to see him at UT for awhile. Being only 41 he, as a coach still has a lot to learn. No doubt his teams will just keep getting better and better. He's been a HC only 4 years of his career. Truly amazing if you think about it.

And you don't think a program like UCLA would target a coach with a bit more proven NCAA track record than Martin?

I don't see them coming calling for Martin...I also don't see Howland struggling, his team is about as talented as UK...

And yes, Martin will be in line for a huge raise if he has a great season like many expect.

Money will never be a problem.

Martin fits UCLA like the square peg fits the round hole.

Exactly. Purdue is really the only job that worries me.

Or somewhere like Indiana, Duke etc etc...but I don't think those spots will be open for awhile.

I also think there's a strong possibility that Martin is on his way to building a place that you don't leave, but is rather a destination job.

I thought Howland and UCLA basketball were in NCAA trouble.....?

Guess he should spend more time painting his chest and boating with 20 year old blondes instead, maybe then he'd get your stamp of approval.

You're the person that started a thread about being impressed that coach Martin is teaching guys to knot ties. Then you get your panties all wadded up about it.

I'm starting to think your are Martin's wife. That would actually explain a lot.

And I'm starting to think you're pearl, that'd explain it all.

There's 3 pages in this thread and you're the only who acts as though you're not impressed, or glad he's our coach...why the F are you here?

As much time as you spend here you think you'd have your settings changed for more posts/page...

This site has how many thousands of members? 15 posts in a thread equates to everyone being impressed with Martin?

It makes sense that people crowning Martin as the greatest coach in the history of basketball would start threads about his awesomeness in tie tying. I'd rather him work on breaking a press or attacking a zone, but that's crazy compared to hosting events at the Men's Warehouse.

Heard the Brinks truck is still waiting on Tom Izzo in East Lansing.

As I said maybe he should teach them how to deal drugs, or fire serial numbers off guns...seems to really benefit the young men.

You're so dumb and irrational its fun just to F with ya, still waiting to hear Izzo announced as Tennessee's next coach though HA.

I don't see whats more appealing about Purdue.
