“Once I took over the program, until I'm in the casket, I don’t know, whatever the case may be ... I said one day we’d be the last team standing," Martin said. “I meant that when I said it.”

Love it.

Next year we are serious contenders. This year I could see us getting hot but still think we need more experience.

i think we're sweet 16 good next year, i just dont see enough talent for championship good.

maybe '13 though if stokes were to stay.

hope im wrong.

Here's the thing: We don't need a ton of talent since only play 8-9 guys.

I'm also expecting big improvements from McRae, Golden, and Yemi.

that'll be the key imo.

if...

golden improves
mcrae improves
edwards can fill tatums role
stokes is stokes
maymon is maymon

richardson learns some o
hall comes back
stanton is serviceable at backup point

if all that happens then yea, maybe elite 8 good, and once you're that far you never know.

I never would have figured VCU and Butler in the Final Four last year.......and, NO, I'm not calling for that here. I'm just saying that it is very hard to speculate accurately. As for CCM........he IS one bad mutha' !!!!!!

At this point, I'd be worried about hanging on to him. UT basketball is not a destination job and he doesn't have any ties here that I'm aware of.......another year of overacheiving and going deep in the tourney and a major program looking for a homerun hire will simply ask Martin to name his price.

And UT will be able to match it. It depends if he wants to stay here or not.

Everybody just worries too much. Can't believe people are already discussing his possible departure, though we may only make the NIT.

Just wait and see what happens.

Pearl treated it as such. It's a major conf schook with a lot of money & nice facilities to recruit. In all actuality, it is a destination job for most coaches, save for legacy programs & alma maters, so unless the likes of Purdue, UCLA, UK, UNC, Duke, KU, Indiana, Syracuse, Mich St, Georgetown, etc come calling, i wouldn't worry.

Creen is a good example, Marquette has everything you want as a coach, & is a destination...unless IU, one of the most storied programs in the country comes calling. That dude from Oklahoma to IU is another. Self from Illinois to Kansas (destination major conf--> legacy). Williams: KU legacy to UNC legacy/alma mater. So on...

Since Cuonzo said he wanted to stay here "until he's in his casket..." , I would say you are wrong...

I have no faith that UT would pay the basketball coach more than the football coach. A more likely situation if Martin leaves in a couple of years is that Bruce Pearl comes back and coaches to make the mouth breathers happy. I would love for Hart to prove me wrong.

Coach Zo will not be going anywhere anytime soon. Sorry Pearl lovers. He wouldn't get the job even if Zo left. The UTAD knows how a real BB team should play now. They would find a replacement with a similar coaching style. But again, they will not have to as long as Zo still wants to coach.

And Nick Saban said he would not be the coach at Alabama as he was driving to the house of the AD to sign the contract........just saying EVERY coach is happy where they are until the ink dries on the contract of their new school.
