Coach Prime

Yes. Chris Petersen who coached 14 years has a better resumè than Deion who has been a coach for 4 seasons. Real world shattering statement there.

Petersen had zero problem leaving Boise for a bigger job. His issue was always leaving the PNW due to his kid. It’s why he turned down USC two times and took Washington fairly easy.

Once again, keep trying to mental gymnastics fake controversy.

Why are you so butthurt that Colorado is not a good football team after Neon brought in everyone he wanted? It's not on anyone other than Deion and the coaches who lack discipline. Penalties are the reason why they completely fell apart and the season went on. Do you think it's coincidence the braves won the world series the year they traded him? He has an opportunity to become a good coach but he should start by setting an example and become Coach Sanders and ditch the ridiculous Prime facade. Or if not hire some locker room security.

Colorado wasn’t ever gonna be all overnight or one season fix. But now that his first season is over, what was accomplished?

1 win program for 4 wins, that’s a positive.
1 win program with next to no ticket revenue got a $14-20 million surge in ticket sales/season tickets.
1 win program with no earned media for seasons got earned media valued over $50m in earned media coverage this year.
1 win program literally no one talked about got covered all season. There is no such thing as bad press.

Deion has had a net positive impact financially on the school that took a chance to hire him. Anyone that has any experience running a business would know this.

This isn’t some grand controversy you’re making it out to be.

The test will be if Deion can translate some of HIS hype into hype on his team. and not just hype on his sons. your mindset works in a publicly traded business where the emphasis is on making the shareholders money. If you are worried about ANYTHING else, its not a solid long term plan. especially when the money depends on hype that is temporary and will actively be degraded by the product. Unless they are going to string together a bunch of these short lived hype performances they are going to have cash flow problems soon enough, and what is being praised as a good decision now will be condemned in the future.

At what cost? Starting to see decommitments, OL give up after being thrown under the bus, coaches getting demoted. They got their spot in the sunlight this year and Deion was obviously a huge part of that, but all indications are he's going to leave a steaming dump behind that will be just as bad as the one he found.

And like it or not Deion has a history of "not hanging around"

Players decommit everywhere. Colorado is at a disadvantage with the NIL stuff and if you are a 4/5 star guy, you have eye on that. Deion isn’t running players off to decommit.

The biggest impact he’s made has been financial on the AD and program. And given how piss poor that team was after Tucker left, it’s going to multiple classes to get the roster stocked.

And to your last point, there is zero example or evidence that he’s gonna leave them at first chance…. While I think the roster situation was among worst in the country, he’s not gonna go elsewhere unless a school really wants him and they aren’t gonna fire him because they are torching the revenue $ he brought it just to cover his buyout.

Apparently not. It appears to be a personal responsibility. If you're an insurer would you really offer a policy for this to young adults. Hail to the nall.
When the Rambling Wreck of Georgia Tech was vandalized, U-T paid to have it restored.

Are you Deions agent? Yes kids like NIL. Name one person on Colorado not named Hunter or Sanders that has improved because of Deions "coaching prowess?"

That's
This country certainly does value celebrity over substance. 9.3 Million people watched 2 teams that combined for 9 wins.

It's because of ESPN, not Neon. There were several Colorado games on this year in Knoxville. The first time I ever remember. If the media wasn't putting the game on right on front of us, we wouldn't seek it out.

Good on ESPN from a business perspective I guess. People still have to watch it. They pumped up the product and Deion is a helluva promoter. That Colorado vs CSU game was like a 10:30 EST kickoff and had 9.3 million viewers. That’s insane.

The whole 1 win to 4 argument is so overblown its absurd.

Northwestern went from 1 win last season to 7 this season but how much has been made of that? Does anyone nationally even know the name of their coach?

And Northwestern is a far harder place to win with its academic standards and playing in a much tougher conference than Colorado.

Not a good team for your argument, but only because how much publicity they got this offseason. David Braun replaced Pat Fitzgerald and just won B1G Coach of the year.

I'd argue most people heard of the controversey but didn't know who their coach was, nor that they won 7 games.

Most don’t know. Most don’t know our coach. But college football nerds like me do. And there’s a considerable amount of us. He said anyone. That’s all I’m getting at

With his own thread on this forum, an upcoming Amazon series, AFLAC commercials, sportsperson of the year award, etc., I think Deon and Colorado have gotten much more publicity and mentions in the general national media than any other NCAA coach/program with the possible exception of Harbaugh/UM.

That’s not what you initially said though. All of this is a given. I’m just pointing out, that Braun has his name out there because of what he did, given what he inherited. Obviously it’s not Deion level. But because Deion is Deion, he’s getting more pub than Smart, Saban, Day, etc. I’m just telling you Braun is known, mostly just because of his circumstances.

The better example would’ve been our own: Golesh. No one could name him outside of Florida or Tennessee. Most Tennessee fans probably don’t even know what he accomplished this year.
