Coach Summitt, Don't Stop Now!!

I think so, too, Beecher. Always have. Just don't want to accept the thought.

No one does but, watching her in the coaches huddle in OT against Ark made me furious. How could her family and friends allow such an icon to be on public display looking totally lost and uninvolved? One more year? The OP must be living in a dream world.

On a side note, what a recruiting nightmare for prospects watching. Dead crowd, disjointed team, coaching disarray. This is the current state of the LV program, not the banners in the rafts.

Anybody that thinks Pat should continue hasn't watched a Lady Vol basketball game this year. What a run she has had but the time is here and i doubt if the disease is bad enough that she would really know herself that it is time. Many of you have experienced this with a family member and it is so sad to see a loved one go down hill

I've watched several games this season. I still believe she should continue to coach, as long as her health and the program is not harmed. It was a tough season, but this Coach Summitt's situation had a huge emotional impact. Give it another year at least before you make that kind of determination.

I agree with him. It is very sad, but I think it might be time. Wish this BS!!!!! never happened. It sucks!!!! I wanted her here another 20 years.

I think even if she isnt the head coach they should keep her seat on the sidelines, and she should be able to sit there if she wants to

It already has been harmed. You don't think this disease has anything to do with the fact the Lady Vols have fallen from the ranks of the best two or three programs? I knew immediately last summer when she announced the diagnosis. At times, I had wondered how they fell out of the national title picture. If you think back, this has been a gradual REGRESSION of the program which if tracked, would parallel the PROGRESSION of Pat's disease. This disease had an effect upon her long before last summer. Now it makes sense as to WHY the Lady Vols have dropped out of national relevance. There is no doubt Pat has lost some of her ability to focus her attention on details. That's where she was so much better than everyone else. She paid attention to detail. This disease ROBS a person of their ability to focus on detail.

I have watched the Lady Vols for yrs. My ex-sister in law (whom I still love) was next door roomie to Pat at UTM. Told some great stories about her.
Watching the games this year....the fire is gone from Pat's eyes....and it brings tears to my eyes most every time the camera pans to Pat during the breaks or when the refs make a bad call.
I'll leave the decisions to others whom are closer to the situation. GOD Bless You Pat Summit.....you have been a VFL!!!!!!!!!!!

With all due respect to the person that started this thread, Pat shouldn't be coaching this season. Whoever talked her into staying around this year needs their azz handed to them.

Do you honestly think she had to be talked into staying around this year? Not many people have talked her into anything since she was talked into being hired in the first place.

Very sad it has to end w/ Holly doing the actual coaching and being the voice to the media. That is one insidious disease and faster than probably expected last September.

Agreed. This is over. It's time to hand pick her replacement. And it better be a good one. Noone currently on staff is deserving.

the team now--the assistants are. What would be the purpose of her hanging on for another year? To win a few more games? Next year's team probably will not be great--and has anyone paid attention to recruiting? The 2013 top recruit had committed to UT but has now reconsidered--no doubt because of the coaching situation. Same with other top recruits. This is the time for her to step down, take her bows--and stay with the program in some off-court facility is she wants to. PS could stay--but it would be a mistake and would only hurt the program that she loves.

If she can't even do halftime, or after game interviews, the writing is on the wall to me.

Go out and hire a top coach, and I guess start rebuilding.

Pat can barely dictate plays from the sideline, how can anyone think that she should be left to decide when to step down? Bless her and thanks for the program, but she deserves a great sendoff into the sunset where she can spend time with her family and try to take care of herself, not take care of the program.
