Coach Zo deserves

Great, we beat 2 terrible teams and one team who beat us already and isn't a tourney team.

The point is we are still a bubble team. In a crappy conference like the SEC this should not be the case. Losing twice to T A&M and Vandy are inexcusable. If we lay an egg in the SEC tourney, we still may not get in. That is Cuonzo's fault.

And does anyone think we're going to be better next year??? I'm sure a majority of people would say no.

A lot of Bubble teams are winning.
Right now, I think it's above 50% that we'll miss the tournament if we lose next Friday.

Some fans suck also. He will be coach next year. Will you stay a fan.

I've always been a fan. I never said he wouldn't be coach next year. And yes. Some of our fans do suck....the "what have you done for me lately" stuff cracks me up.

But Martin still sucks as a coach.

Just because "us fans" complain because we wanted the team to play like this all year...makes us delusional? Ok...maybe UT should just decide to pay him for a 1/4 of a season because that's all he coaches.

If we lose our first sec tourney game and don't make the ncaa, people will understand your point.

Retaining Martin without extending his contract would make it impossible for him to recruit.

He doesn't put much effort anyway when it comes to recruiting. He can always find a couple of projects.

If you expected us to win by 30 ppg all year, then yes, you're delusional.

After today we're already in. Won't matter if we lose the first game as long as its not a blowout.

Of course I want us to win the whole thing but after today, we're in.

Another one that's too emotional. You really think anybody has that expectation?

Effort, speed, movement, communication, attacking, cutting off passing lanes, defend pick and roll, run pick and roll, inside out game, cutters off stokes, run the floor, SPACING, getting it down low early to stokes...
Those are basketball expectations for me for this team. If you expect less, so be it.

Pretty certain he just expected us not to lose to aTm twice, Vandy once, UTEP, NC St, etc. In other words he expected a talented, experienced team not being a bubble team and living on hopes and prayers at the end of the season to get into the NCAA's. I am pretty certain he also doesn't all of a sudden believe we are world beaters and getting to the Final Four just because we smacked the dregs of an awful SEC. I dunno, maybe we can ask him.

Hey, Stoked4Zo, is my above a fair assessment?

I doubt it. All it takes is a couple teams to make a run. If a conf tourney fav goes down and a team wins their league title (like UGA did in 08) then teams start getting bumped. This team can't afford to get comfortable.

He already can't recruit. When we are 6 and 24 next season what are you going to say?

One year extension sounds about right.

One year extension sounds about right.

We will find a way to beat lower tier SEC schools and ppl will forget Martin sucks as a coach..kind of like....now

Then maybe Stoked4Zo should have said that instead of: "This is how the fans expect UT to play...but all season." The response was perfectly rational.

Not really. From what I see, he won't change his mind about a coach when they play the way they should 5-6 games a year out of 30. That's playing the %'s.

5 games ago he was all about firing Martin at the very second, saying no matter what Martin does he should be gone.

That's not overly emotional?

Sure. I didn't realize he wanted to seriously fire him on the spot. That's a bit much. Assuming that's accurate of course.

I must say...CCM's team certainly has struggled to be consistent...I think the main difference obviously is defense...BUT...CCM has DEFINITELY gotten much more animated on the sidelines and coaching with a sense of urgency....going forward next year...IF...and that's a big if....we can find some interior defense and rebounding and IF Hubbs can be as good as advertised...next season may not be a complete wash....I just at this point.... Don't know who will play the 4-5 position...he may not be on the roster right now...don't we have a scholarship to give?....

I'm not saying tennessee won't make the tournament, but I love all these delusional people who get way too excited by Tennessee's end to the season. The previous 2 years, tennessee has ended the year just as dominate, and with better winning streaks going into the SEC champ week, but they haven't made the tournament either year. I would love nothing more than to make the tournament, but just because lunardi might bump us up to "last 4 with bye" doesn't mean anything. Lets just calm down, because if we lose first game of the SEC tournament, and don't make the ncaa tournament, you''re just giving the Cuonzo haters more fuel to work off of.

There. Are. No. Cuonzo. Haters.

I think it's always best practice to wait until the end of the year to make any judgment

Exactly!

The Vols are playing well, right now, so let's enjoy watching a team in orange & white kick some a$$. (It's been awhile...)

So, if he expected us not to lose to those teams...he expected us to go 25-6? Or, with the etc in mind, even better?

He should win coach of the year for sure after going 5-1 against the bottom 6 teams

This. I am glad for Tennessee winning, but our end of season schedule is weak and I don't take this as any sign of a sudden turnaround. Beating the bottom half of the SEC to close the year (including the two worst teams) doesn't really seem like any reason to get excited, just like I never really felt much excitement about Tennessee's November dominance in football -- of course we were dominant, we were playing UK and Vandy every November. Anyway.
