Coachery

This is just ****ing stupid.

Kiffin and Freeze are toxic for UT because of the desire to show they are doing their best to “clean up” a dirty situation. The violations were so egregious that something HAD to be done...by self-reporting and bringing in the NCAA early on, they attempted to show they were doing their best to correct the situation. Hiring either of those two would be a step back.

I’d rather them take the high road and burn everything down and start over than I would them try to hide the violations and most likely get hammered later. At least this way they are attempting to get ahead of the situation.

I swear, being in health care myself, if you are actually an MD then my guess (based entirely on the lack of intelligence you bring here), is that you’re either in pain management, prescribing suboxone, or working for an insurance company as a “peer” reviewer.

Morons will moron.
We all know that those in healthcare are the geniuses of the world...insert eye roll...

More money plus assistant HC/HCIW I think he would
Similar to my last thought this morning before falling asleep(night shift).
It is a pipe dream but if the money has been put up, offer a retired proven HC. Make a OC the assistant/HCIW with a contract that has him paid almost like a HC from day one and a generous raise when it takes over in 1-3 years. It would cost us but maybe someone finally realizes 10-12 million dollar buyouts do too!

If you're in healthcare, I don't want you near anyone in my family with that kind of toxic attitude. Just proves that more education can't buy you more class.

Ummm... MD for Maryland maybe? (Haven’t bothered to look)

This is an awesome thread. Thanks for being on point, @Stoerner Fumbles. We've disagreed before, but you're really doing a wonderful job with this. Providing what you can, protecting your friend, not over-stating anything. Just masterful. Thank you.

Perhaps @Stoerner Fumbles is the misinformation vessel 🤔

I kid, I kid.
Heh, know you're kidding, but it's a chance to forward one theory.

We've heard Danny White will use misinformation during coaching searches. And we know leaks are anathema to him. It's only a short step from those two points to this idea...

...what if Danny is controlling the information flow in a fairly complex, even byzantine, way? What if he is exposing the leaks in the AD office one at a time by feeding misinformation ("the short list is X, Y, and Z") and seeing where it pops out? Kind of like the way our troops in Vietnam blew smoke into Vietcong tunnel complexes to identify all the exits.

So after a bit of time, our AD knows that Joe Smith over in the budget office leaks to 247, and Jane Jones in operations leaks to Volquest. Meanwhile, we fans are reading leaks about PJ Fleck and Tony Elliott, who might or might not actually be in play. Danny doesn't necessarily fire Joe or Jane, though he might. Instead, he might use them in the future, without them even being aware he's onto them.

break/break

I don't think any of this is @Stoerner Fumbles. I think his source is accurate. I mean, we had that confirmed with the AD hire itself.

But it is possible that Stoerner's friend, who continues to provide information in small bits from time to time, is Danny White's "control group" leak. The one White uses to share the very small amount of information he's willing to divulge, for now.

Or maybe Danny's not even aware info is getting out. It's possible. But I think doubtful. If local journalists know @Stoerner Fumbles has a good source, and they're making phone calls around town trying to figure it out, I'd suspect that Danny White is aware, too.

Anyway, it's just a thought. A hopeful one, really, we'd all hate to see Stoerner's buddy get into any trouble. If Danny knows and approves of the nuggets he's sharing, he wouldn't.

Thanks again, Stoerner. Appreciate your updates.

So chess then, not checkers?

I’ve tried to learn Go and watch a few games, and afterwards my brain felt like chewed-up oatmeal
I've played it maybe twice. Well below "beginner" level, I'm sure.

But the folks who know the game claim it is more complex, more nuanced, than chess.

Which is intriguing, you know? only two playing pieces, one white, one black, and they don't even move. You just set them down, and they stay there. Chess would seem on its face to be much more complicated, with 6 different kinds of pieces on each side, each of which can move only in certain ways, and with unique interactions like castling the king or queening a piece that gets to the far side of the board...

...and yet Go is the more subtle game, supposedly. Very intriguing.

Just as Danny White is very intriguing to this fan base right now, heh.

I don't think White will do that. Either the smokescreens are pure fantasy created by over-eager media who foolishly look to sources like us for info (Stoerner excepted) or there is something to it. Elliott makes sense and he's apparently on the list. If I had to bet, I'd say it's his job unless he takes a pass on us.

DW maybe smokescreenie

Take this for what it’s worth: I’ve heard it is anticipated that it will be a Tuesday afternoon announcement.

I have no name.

I have thought that they would wait until after the NFL Championship game recaps are over and before the Super Bowl hype starts full bore. I think they really want to make a splash with this hire and get some positive press for a change on a national level. We need to realize the simple fact that the UT football's brand has taken a hit over the last several years and starting to get our media image back no matter how small it is important on multiple fronts. This hiring of a top coach may be that start.

National Signing Day is coming. The new coach is probably eager to get to work.

What better way to get your message out there than in front of national sports media cameras a day after and a few days before all you see is Tom Brady....Tuesday.

If you think about it, there is no way to control the world's news. You never know when a Hank Aaron will pass, or a Tom Brokaw will retire. You never know when some Coronavirus milestone will hit, or some Elon Musk rocket will explode. Every day brings something, or several somethings.

So you just control the news you have. Pick a day that works well for you, and let the rest of the world fit around your story as it will.

I'm encouraged that we might hear a result Tuesday. That makes it sound as if our first and best choice is locked in.
