Cutcliffe was never a legitimate candidate to start with.

We have offered the job to two coaches Gundy and Strong. Gundy and Sexton played us which is no surprise. I think Strong wants the job and indicated to Tennessee that he wanted the job but just can't pull the trigger out of loyalty to his players and the AD at Louisville.

This search is starting to now parallel almost every SEC VOL game I've watched over the past 3 years. Game/search starts out really good - but in the 3rd/4th quarter it starts going down hill and ends in a Vol loss.

I was never an "all in" for Gruden (I think he would have a fast start, but then there would be issues. No 5 star recruit is a sure thing at the college level - and TN has had its share of those). I still think Strong is a win....if he accepts. I think even Fedora is still a win for me. After that I don't know.

We don't need any more NCAA risk at this time. Would love to see a Fulmer "comeback" - as that would be a great 30 for 30 ESPN story.....but I don't know if I REALLY want to see that play out.

We, the fans - just NEED a win with this hire.

(I was impatient and unsure when my current employer - AZ State - hired Graham last year.....but he has turned out to be VERY good for ASU's program and players.)

Dave Hart is a bigger joke than Hamilton and Dooley combined.

The truth is there are probably around 20 or more candidates as good as any we are talking to now. Ex coaches, coordinators, nfl assistants, etc., etc., etc. Just gotta look outside the box but they are out there if you flash the cash. The entire thing is a bust now anyway so time is really no longer a factor. Any big recruits considering us are lost anyway if we settle for jones or fedora or the likes thereof.

Just FYI, Fedora has a top 15 class going to UNC next year...UT doesn't even crack the top 25.

Hire Chavis--I'd be very happy with him. Excellent DC, excellent leader, excellent Vol. Would go full bore and unify Vol nation.

This and plain simple explanation...

After Fedora and Fedora will say no who knows. We heard Davis, Tressel, Peterino and Mora for a short time but noting in the last week. I haven't even seen a comment from Peterino or Tressel on any offers or rumors. I have a feeling one of them might be next to get the offer.

At this point, Greg Roman should be on any list.

No baggage (as in Petrino, and if you think he was clean before Arkansas, you haven't been paying attention)
No NCAA issues lurking
Has spent some quality time around Harbaugh, knows the college game - hopefully some of that Harbaugh knowledge has rubbed off on him
He'll take the job
