I gotta start this rumor thread now.......NFL or College. Rumors, what ifs and what is. Post everything about coaching changes and firings here..

Whether its the Giants or the Zips.

I wanna start with a what if........Dennis Green gets fired and Arizona gives Pete Carroll a blank check and he leaves. Does USC go after Bobby Petrino???

I don't think so... I have a really hard time seeing Pete Carroll leaving USC. Unlike all the other guys trying to jump to the NFL, or others trying to get back in, Carroll has said numerous times that he's already done his time in the bigs and much prefers running the show in college.

Mora may want Washington but Alabama is the job that is still open and Arthur may/should tell him to hit the road unless Atlanta wins the SuperBowl.

can't see Mora at Bama...if he can't cut it with the Falcons, what's he going to do with the Bama faithful? I do think though, he'd be better in college than in the NFL.

It's definitely a different world. Gene Stallings couldn't cut it with Arizona Cardinals (nobody else has either), but within 3 years won a National Championship at Alabama.

can you say Pete Carroll? you're right...the NFL requires a different personality and work ethic than college does...and not that it's a bad thing, it's just different.

and unfortunatley, most coaches don't know it until they are figuring it out for themselves...the hard way.

That is so true. It's crazy the number of coaches going in both directions have fallen flat on their faces. There aren't very many that have been successful at both.

yep, which is why, as much as i hated the guy, i have to give Jimmy Johnson a ton of credit. that guy won everywhere...can't give Barry a lot...just never bought in to him actually "coaching" the cowboys...rather just sitting around saying "yes" to JJ and telling Troy, Mike and Emmit to "go play".

i think Mora is done regardless of how Atlanta plays on Sunday. those comments he made about Washington really did him in.

that and losing to Carolina, a pathetic Carolina team that had nothing really to play for at that, in the GA Dome, also didn't help.

nah, i don't like Vick, but i've watched enough to know that the WR's they have have not helped him one bit this year. How many dropped balls have there been this season???? He has yet, outside of Crumpler, to have a "go to" WR on offense.

I don't think he's all that great mind you, but in his defense, he hasn't gotten a ton of help on the receiving end of his throws this season. And it's not like they haven't been able to run the ball either.

i think Vick really is a coach killer.

It's easy to use Vick as a scapegoat because he's so unconventional, but the problems go a lot deeper than that. This is a team that was in the NFC title game in 2004 and has opened the past 2 years 6-2. It's obvious they have talent, but for whatever reason they just can't hold it together over the long haul.

yeah, it's kind of weird...the past two years, they start off and you think they're really good...then they fizzle in to nothing...

i was at the panthers/falcons game in charlotte this season...and i remember thinking WOW...they are going to be tough this year, and when i saw what they did to Pittsburgh, i again thought WOW....now not so much.

It's Falcons mentality. They never were commited to anything but a losing season and a tax write off. This new found urge to actually become annual contenders is new turf. That being said, if they spent $10 mil a year on a mediocre QB, why not deal out some bucks to go with it. Jesse Tuggle was the last player worth salt to wear the Falcon. I say that respectfully to all the other Falcons. IMO, Vick was a waste of money in that arena of dollars. He's not a $100 mil QB. Bring in a real one, and move him to returns. Then get some receivers since Vick didn't like Price and wouldn't throw to him. We need a QB that can throw period.

That being said, in the end Saban stays at Miami, and Bama tanks in the coaching search and has to end up releasing a "Joe Kines was our man all along" press statement.

Vick rushed for 1,000 yards and has thrown for 19 touchdowns (both career bests) and that is with a terrible line and receivers with hooves for hands. I have been a huge Vick critic in the past but this season has not been his fault. He may lack the leadership to pull the team through in close ones but he has put up the numbers. Knapp and Mora need to go, The play calling and lack of coachin on the Falcons is ridiculous. Mora is everyones buddy instead of their coach. He never calls anyone out and wont talk about a bad performance except to say they are moving on. I want the falcons to lose on Sunday so Mora will definitely get the boot

That's my view as well. Mora just hasn't proven to be a very effective leader when things start going downhill.

I knew Greg Knapp had lost his mind when he started trying to run Spread Option early in the year.

Anybody know Fisher's contract status? I was watching a show last night that said ATL would throw a ton of money at him. Also what about Cowher?

word on cowher is that he'll retire at season's end, most are expecting an announcement by end of next week.

but no one is really sure what the heck is GOING to happen....definitley a wait and see thing.
