I agree. We might not be "done" but the few slots remaining have targets. Some may not be in the portal yet. Just like HS recruiting, I don't think the staff is going to take just anyone. Fit has to be there. I'm not sure that we shouldn't save a couple of spots for after spring ball. Never know who might "flip" off our roster once spring ball concludes.

Do you honestly think they are just sitting around twiddling their collective thumbs. Just because there isn't an announcement every day from the recruiting side doesn't mean none is happening. They have a decent class already. I trust them to recruit the players they need to be ready for next year and beyond. You have an odd tilt to your posts for someone who just joined a week ago. Who did you post as before?

Only from May 1st-15th. I am sure there will be some but spots will be very selective I imagine for everyone at that point. But your right there will probably be a few around then but I wouldn’t want to be depending on it either at that point. That’s just my opinion. GBO

Building a team and a culture is a little more than jumping into the portal and upgrading.

I am not sure why you would question an 11th rank recruiting class and call it trash.

Recruiting is simple it is about need vs shiny objects... We are filling needs and this class will more than likely break the top 10 when the dust settles. Roster Management is the key and since you don't have access to the the War Room you can't really state what you are stating until all is said and done.

I'm a little surprised that this staff isn't going after other players with all of the resent coaching changes that are going on. Or should I say we aren't at least hearing about any. We lost the 24 WR because Golesh left. There are some big schools that lost coaches and we definitely have spots to fill like RB, Safety. LB (still hope for Carter but Saban is the Devil) and CB. Is anyone hearing of any possible High School players or are we putting all of our hopes into the Transfer Portal? Do you think the open OC and TE position coaching slots are playing a roll because Golesh was a strong recruiter?

They are brining in EXACTLY what you are suggesting they should bring in position wise.

The reason they reacted in such a way is because we have probably the best DB class we've had in a very long time coming in.
Gibson and Matthews could probably have a spot for any program in the country. UGA and Bama offered either of them. They both be here in 1 month. Along with 2 really good ILBs and 2 stud safeties.

Then you throw in 2 legit prospects like Luttrell and Conyer who are very good players in their own right. Two versatile athletes.

No, the portal that just opened up last week will be open for 45 days, so there will be plenty of people enter the portal after the bowl game and before mid-late January when the portal closes.

Portal was graduate transfers I thought till here recently. So we’re just now seeing who might be available at some positions. I think you’re going to see a shift in recruiting. Kids will jump in early or will risk not having a spot with the portal allowing you to add potential impact players at some positions. Will be interesting to see what teams manage it best.

Also would mention like others have chemistry and culture will be huge going forward. With NIL potentially creating fractured lockerrooms and distractions. I do think we’ve been missing a leadership aspect on defense as well for a while.

I think the staff is really pleased with the recruits they have lined up for signing day. Why should we go back on our word just to get a kid with probably the same skills from another place? Still, I expect to see an add-on or two before February.
