He’s going on 64 years old and isn’t going anywhere. Men in their 60s don’t have to feed their egos by chasing money & prestige. He’ll finish his career in Bloomington.
Its not simply about money, It could be about winning, and creating a legacy for yourself. Cignetti has been overlooked for many years, it could be a personal goal and sign or respect to coach in the SEC. All becuase you are 60 doesn't change this.

Look at Brian Kelly. He left Notre Dame, a place he could easily cruise to 10 wins for the challenge of coaching in the SEC.

At a place like IU, you are limited. Its at an SEC powerhouse you really have a clear path to building a championship level program.

and the commitment they just made to Curt Cignetti and the football program. $8 mil a year for eight years plus $1 mil annual retention bonus.

Guessing folks at IU believe this is their only shot to be a big time program for an extended period.
