Do you know what they are trying to execute? That is why the kids cannot execute it. They are trying to put a square peg in a round hole. Our opposition has figured out what we do, how we do it, and when we are going to do it. That is why we cannot continue to do the same thing, the same way year in and year out. You must change up your tendencies and how you do it.

So if that is true, who's fault is it? Do you blame Sanders or Fulmer?

You are telling me that RS has full control of this offense in every situation?

Absolutely, do you EVER see the qb run off the field looking for Philip? Not in time outs or any other time.

I really find that hard to believe. If that's true then why did he have to get Fulmer's blessing on the last play of the first half of the Notre Dame game?

he made the call THEN told PF what he called. With 25 seconds he does not have time to make a call, clear it thru PF, signal it in,QB call the play, and then run the play. And if that were the way it worked why wouldn't PF just call the plays? And oh yeah, we had a dead ball before that play also.

I don't know exactly at what point the conversation took place but I am just quoting what Sanders said in one of his interviews after that game.

Let me clairify myself a little. I think Sanders calls the plays but I think he has to stay within 'the system". I am convinced that Fulmer has his hand in a lot of that offense. I really do. Maybe I am wrong....but I don't think so. ;)

I'm not taking anything personal...you don't have to apologize to me. I like hearing your input.

I just know alot of people at high levels of the football business and some close to the program we all love the most.

I think this has a lot to do with the fact that none of our QB's are experienced audible callers. Erik and Brent haven't been around quite long enough to understand every in and out of the offensive scheme, to get to the point where they can masterfully switch around a play and confuse the defense. A few times we've seen Erik do this, but that's about it. It will get better with time.

The most aggravating thing I've seen from the Vols over the last few years (including this one) is the tackling. It appears that the DB's are taught/coached/naturally go for a hit rather than a wrap. Over and over again our DBs put a shoulder into a player that bounces off and keeps going. I watch other teams and the DB's wrap up. Not sure which coach to put that one on but it is frustrating.

Only when the Offensive Coaches put them in formations, blocking schemes, and concepts that work against the defense in front of them. If that does not change you can put Johnny Unitas back there and he would fail.

Drives me nuts!!! Seems like they must be coached that way or is it lack of coaching to correct the problem? In other words, is it a defensive philosophy of trying to deliver a big hit to knock down a player or is it a natural instinct of DB's that has to be "coached out" of them?

From what high school experience I've had this far, running into them is an instinct that needs to be coached out. I've noticed, especially from many other local high schools, wrapping is de-emphasized so coaching can be focused elsewhere. In HS, you can just run into a guy and it would normally be sufficient to knock him down. Obviously not the case in college. Runners are starting to look a little like their NFL counterparts.
