Cold Weather Camping

My oldest son wanted to go with his buddies so I picked up this little buddy. safe for indoor or in a tent, zero carbon monoxide. Runs off of a small bottle of propane or a grill size propane tank. Heats up a tent really well.

I need something like that for my blind.

Any idea on how long it will run on a tank? (Ballpark)

I love camping on Waikiki beach in a five star hotel. ;)
I've stayed in a few 5 star hotels in my life and while they're nice, that's not how I live my life. I also like the fact that when I camp I don't have to think about someone gizzing on my pillow or wiping their butt with my comforter.

I use one of those 20lb cylinders, typical gas grill size cylinder, and I can use it 3 nights and hook it up to my gas cooktop and cook with it too. I haven't emptied it on a single trip yet. I top it off each time before I use it.

Maybe it's just me but I have never worried about that, especially in an upscale hotel. However, I would take both those situations over a snake, scorpion or black widow in my tent.

Ever go camping and it ends up being cold weather even though you didn't intend it to be?

We went up camping over Memorial Day one year in Colorado to the same spot we always did. We arrived a little after dark and it was chilly, but nothing bad. At some point, I woke up during the middle of the night and looked outside the tent trying to figure out why the ground looked a little odd. Come to find out, we had about two inches of snow on the ground in our camping area.

No chainsaw brought with us for firewood, mind you.

But a great trip overall. Stayed plenty warm cutting up firewood with axes and bow saws.

Those mummy style sleeping bags look really cozy and warm. Some are pretty expensive though. They look like they would do well in cold weather camping.

Put some bottled water near the fire and a few minutes before you get in your bag you put a few of the bottles in it..... then when you get in.... it's all warmed up

One of the best (and quite expensive when new) sleeping bags along those lines is the Military Sleep System. Basically, three different bags, one intermediate, one cold, one Gore-Tex cover, combine all three and it's an extreme cold weather system.

The military might have been missing one or two when I retired...

Welp we are done for the year until next year when we go to Disney. Had the pleasure of winterizing our TT which seemed difficult initially but ended up being very easy and took about 25 bucks and 25 minutes. RV supply stores and even dealerships seem pretty dumb about their products. All I needed was a quick disconnect fitting and a hose to hook to my inlet side of my water pump to get it in the system and every dealer and parts place (except for one) tried to sell me a kit for pumps they stopped making about 5 years ago lol.
