So your saying winning National Titles and Conference championship isn't the expectations of College Sports Teams?
No, read what I said; I said that winning national titles in not the only metric by which a successful sports program is measured. You said the only thing that matters is the trophies (national titles) in the case. Nice try ...straw man.jpg

They also exploited a distinct recruiting advantage that no other program in the national could compete with. I have no respect for that program no matter what their recent success is.

And if Tennessee had those advantages available, I'd expect Tennessee to exploit them. It's not Vanderbilt's fault that the 11.7 rule exists. As a college baseball fan, I give them credit for placing enough of an emplhasis on the sport to exploit the loophole. There are plenty of other private schools who could do the same thing, but don't. Just like other schools don't spend as much on NIL as LSU does.

They invest in college baseball. Good for them. Wish Tennessee had done so much earlier.

Pretty sad that Vanderbilt can legally cheat due to them being the only private school in the SEC and get to play by an entirely different set of rules, yet they haven’t beaten us in two seasons and haven’t been able to make it out of a Regional either. I will give their outfielders credit though, they have lost more baseballs in the lights in the past two seasons than they have Regional wins. Congrats 🎉

Yeah, we give Vandy more attention on that issue because they're the only SEC school to do it, but they aren't the only school in America to do it. Stanford has used that advantage for many years. Also, there are other advantages and disadvantages enjoyed or not enjoyed by other schools around the country, depending on their state laws, financial aid availability, lottery money, etc. It's my undertsanding that Virginia has some kind of scholarship money advantage, even though they're public. Not sure the details.

But the real problem is the 11.7 rule. If not for that, none of those things would matter.

And yes, kicking Vandy's ass around the last few years has been really fun. Not only have we won 7 in a row, but we've boatraced them a few times and broken their hearts as well. They were the turning point in Tennessee's season. That has to make them feel good. ;)

It’s actually a Title IX issue because they want the women’s athletic scholarships to match the men’s. Football accounts for 85 scholarships and there is not an equivalent women’s sport to counteract that.
We need a new sport…..
