Its about that time again. Since Roy Williams has been at UNC they have dominated with 2 national championships and another final four to add with that. UNC is young this year after everyone left that was a part of that memorable run, but they have a lot of talent especially down low. They will make another run in the tournament but a repeat is unlikely. Duke has fell off. They cant make it past the sweet 16. Tennessee and Kentucky will be fun to watch in the SEC. Michigan State and Kansas look like 2 teams that could possibly end up being the Champion. Just wonderin what you all think about the upcoming season?

Kansas and Michigan St are solid 1 seeds in the tourney, IMO. Texas is highly touted once again, but they always seem to underachieve when the tourney rolls around. Villanova should be stout with Reynolds and Fisher returning, and are favored to win the big east. Awwww Shucks Roy and the turdheels cannot be counted out either. And of course, there is Kentucky. IF I had to make a pre-season prediction now (which I hate doing) I would see the following:

SEC Champ- Kentucky

Big East Champ- Villanova/West Virginia

ACC champ- UNC

Big Ten Champ- Michigan St

PAC 10 Champ- Cal/Washington/ Who cares

Big 12 Champ- Kansas

#1 Seeds

Kansas
Michigan St
UNC
Kentucky/or/Big East Champ

Based on what? Don't get me wrong, UK has a very talented team, but what else is it about this team that screams "potential #1 seed caliber"?

Post presence and a good PG. That's the whole formula. 3 pointers muddle it a little, but not much. They will play D and they will score.

And also..
1. Team Chemistry, which they have none of.
2. Key players buying into a system that is the complete opposite style of which he prefers (Patterson).
3. Experience.

When I say pre-season prediction, I am basing my predictions on what will have transpired by march. I see Kentucky winning the SEC convincingly, not undefeated, but soundly. They will probably be ranked in the top 5 at the end of the season, with maybe 4-5 losses. Top that off with a conference title and SEC tourney title, and thats a possible #1 seed.

There are 8 teams out there that have possible number one seed written all over them. Nothing is a lock.

1. Team Chemistry- none of us are in the locker room, so I don't see any of us having the expertise to comment on this. It didn't seem to bother other teams that bring in and play mass amounts of elite talent.

2. Patrick Patterson- Again, we are not in practice so we have no idea how it is working. We don't know what patrick prefers, only what Gillispie made him do. However, all pre-season reports contradict your theory.

3. Experience- By the time march arrives, this will not be much of a factor. Hasn't seemed to alter other teams with freshman becoming #1 seeds.

1. Like who?

2. Based on what type of offense he played in high school and the schools he chose from coming out of high school actually support my theory.

3. Name one team that has made it to the final four in the past decade that heavily relied on star freshmen
