I fell in love with the Cambrian hotels.
My significant other is fond of free breakfasts.(even though I never wake up early enough to eat them)
So we’re likely at Hampton (very nearby) or Embassy Suites (free drinks) on other side of public park. VRBO and Airbnb are crapshoots in bigger cities and no free breakfast.
I’m hoping the ushers will let those with reserved seats move around closer to dugouts
Had nothing but good experience with CambriaGood to know some positives with Cambiras. Looked like a good place and I booked it when it was stupid cheap.
I can't imagine the ushers will be that picky. They definitely weren't in Dallas, which I really appreciated. I like wandering around the parks especially during games we aren't in.
I've been to many, many Astros games. Even for World Series was able to park without much of a problem. The Friday afterrnoon game is the only one that could be a problem. Find a spot along the Metro Rail that stops right next to the ballpark if you are concerned about parking. Friday afternoon traffic in Houston in a bitch everywhere. We're in 122, Row 5 or 116, Row 5, depending on the game (because I want to be by our dugout instead of being around opposing team's fans, and I have some friends in Houston who will use the other tickets and not care where they're sitting). Also on the aisle. We're staying at a hotel within walking distance and not getting a car, because you're right, parking is nuts. See you there!
The Weston Downtown Houston is mere steps away from the park. On a weekend in February, you can probably get a decent rate.I was thinking downtown as well. Saw some ok deals.
Just curious about the transport costs from airport downtown for 2 people.
Not fond of being without a car with all the free time- after all, there are no In-and-Out's downtown
Was thinking Zipcar for Animal Style on Saturday as Zip is downtown.
Enron, Minute Maid, Daikin… Oxy patches on the sleeves, it’s all fer sale.Did not realize the name "Minute Maid" was going away in Houston
Houston Astros’ Minute Maid Park renamed Daikin Park in new 15-year deal | Houston Public Media
It's the third corporate name on the downtown Houston ballpark, which opened in 2000. Daikin is a Japanese-based company that makes air conditioners and has a Houston-region facility.www.houstonpublicmedia.org
Back in the 90s, Daikin was one of my industrial customers when I was a terrible salesman.
We're also flying back late Monday and are going to head out to the Johnson Space Center Monday morning. Other than that, my only plans are baseball and eating all the amazing Houston food.We don't fly back from Houston until late Monday. Trying to decide what to do
Drive to Galveston?
San Jacinto Battlefield?
The Galleria?
Got my final reservations made.
We are leaving a bit earlier than we planned to try some things I've always wanted to do..
Going to fly to San Antonio early Thursday and spend the day and night there. Staying at The Crockett Hotel. Touring the Alamo and hitting the River Walk that night. Try some Tex-Mex
Friday morning. Get up early and Amtrak to Houston.
Staying downtown at Cambria (for now unless I stumble upon a better deal) Playing the whole weekend by ear. Will see all the Tennessee games and pick-and-choose what other games I'll watch.
I have seats just to third base side behind home plate. Row 20 on aisle (look for me) I may bring coonskin cap?

Both SA and Houston have In-N-Out locations but neither close to downtown. Will try to fit at least 2 meals there.
Steak downtown Houston somewhere
If UT would sell me season tickets, they could have had all this money
Steak downtown? Brenners on the Bayou or Vic and Anthony's.Got my final reservations made.

I was going to decide when I get there about steak. Talk to a local or 2. Avoid the chains most likely - no matter how exclusive they are.Steak downtown? Brenners on the Bayou or Vic and Anthony's.
Monday.... NASA
I normally avoid chain restuarants also. That's why I didn't mention Pappa Bros. Ironically, one of the best steaks in all of Texas can be found at Pappa Bros Steakhouse. There is one right downtown.I was going to decide when I get there about steak. Talk to a local or 2. Avoid the chains most likely - no matter how exclusive they are.
I would love to find a local mom and pop that does good steak
I would love NASA, don't think the significant other would go for it. Would really have to sell San Jacinto as it were.

I can give you several locally owned restaurants that are awesome but they are not in the downtown area. I rarely go downtown anymore.
I don’t live in Houston but I’m there all the time with my profession. For burgers and brews, check out the Rustic, nearby. Gentleman above is correct - Pappas is great for steaks. DT Houston also has a Guard and Grace (my fav) and a Vic and Anthony’s for steaks too and both are great. V&A is walkable from stadium. Xochi in the Marriott nearby is amazing. If you like chargrilled oysters, they have a dish there that is primo. Biggios, also in the Marriott will be full of TVs and Vol fans before and after games. Food is not great there - basic bar food, but go for drinks.Fire 'em out there. I'll uber wherever if its some good food.
