College football rules changes you actually would like to see implemented

Excessive celebration penalty should be toned down dramatically. It's one thing to throw the ball down and start humping it, or doing other obscene, degrading, or sexual gestures. That should be the purpose of the EC rule.

High stepping into the Endzone, dancing, throwing the ball to the crowd, etc. is just good old fashioned fun.

I agree, the celebration rule is dumb.

Like the guy getting penalized for supposedly doing a throat cut when he was obviously just pulling the Sooner's gesture.

Sure if a guy starts doing hand springs across the endzone then penalize him (And sign him up for gymnastics) but the celebration rule is ridiculous because it's so vague.

I agree. Here are my other two:

1. Either college needs to require two feet down for a completed pass (as prep for NFL), or NFL needs to change to only one foot down.

2. Get rid of all reviews. This goes for NFL also. Slows down the game tremendously, is only reviewed accurately like 75% of the time (it seems), and, let's be honest: half the time they'll go against you and half the time they'll go in your favor. So, in other words, reviews are a wash and useless.

I disagree regarding review.
The current process is much better than seeing a ref obviously blow a call to cost someone a game.

This won't ever change & shouldn't. Guess you're for doing away with a safety for it going out of your own endzone too.

I'd be ok with that rule being inconsistently applied, depending on which endzone you fumble through.
I'm ok with the safety for fumbling backwards when you're backed up to your own goal.
But, when you're about to score a TD, I think the defense should have to actually possess the football to cause a turnover.

They don't on a safety so if you fumble forward out of their endzone why should they then? It's a touchback. Just like a kickoff or a punt. If you're about to score just hold on to the ball. It's not a secret rule that's just been implemented it just seems to bite us in the ass because we can't hold on to the damn ball. So let's change the rule to appease some Tennessee fans?

Go to all NFL rules, especially with the clock. Also I would like to see the SEC get better if not steal some NFL refs. If you're going to get the lucrative TV contracts, then get the big time officials.

I'm not claiming that we were cheated, or that the current rule is unfair.

I just think that whether the ball bounces out of bounds in front of or behind the pylon carries too much weight.

As for the bolded part, I already acknowledged that I'm OK with the rule being inconsistently applied.

OT rule change. Winner of the toss chooses to either take four free points or get the ball on their opponents 25. One possession to decide the game, defense wins by four or the offense wins with a td.

Eliminate the PAT. TD are worth 7. You must gamble 1 point if you want to attempt the try. Make it and you get your point back plus a bonus for 8. But miss it and you lose one point so back to 6. You can decline the attempt and stay at 7.

I like overtime. It's exciting. And I like PATs.

Also extend the players zone on the sideline to facilitate defensive substitutions in the redzone. Used to not be a problem but now with HuNH it's too far to expect the defense to run to from the bench area.

Especially when you're trying to run in your heavy players. I do agree with this.

I would say they need to get rid of the excessive celebration or get tougher on defensive taunting.

If an offensive player gets a penalty for high stepping or turning around after breaking away from the D, then the D should get an automatic 15yard penalty anytime they make a tackle and do some stupid celebration.

I just don't see how its fair that when the D does something good then they can act a fool, but when the O burns the D they have to run normal, hand the ball to the ref, and calmly walk back to the bench. Either both sides should "act like you've been there" or neither should, period.

Oh and to the guy that said the SEC needs to get NFL refs, Have you watched any NFL games this year????

The NFL is loaded with refs that make HORRIBLE calls and favor certain teams.

Not sure what you mean about inconsistently applied but the rule is never gonna change regardless.
