College Gameday a big negative?

I feel like us being the school that College gameday comes to this weekend will end up being a bad thing for the program.

It is going to be a 2 hour magnifiying glass on how bad things are going right now in our BBall program.

Recruits will be watching and will see how bad it really is.

Lost 6 of 8, assistant coaches yelling at each other, coach suspended, most likely going to be suspended again for a year.

This has turned into a nightmare...:cray:

What's worse is the men are playing at noon and the chicks are playing during primetime. What does that say?

Dont even get me started with the NCAA. The Derrick Rose/SAT fiasco let me know all I needed about the NCAA. They never proved he didnt take it, they just used a loophole to invalidate the test retroactively and then claimed that since he has no official SAT score that he was academically ineligible to play for us in 07-08. Yea, they can all bite me.

Yet Eric Bledsoe and Darrel Arthur's changed grades don't garner a retroactive ineligibility.

It says that ESPN doesn't prefer for men's basketball to compete with the NFL during playoff weekends. This weekend, the noon slot is the preferred slot.

Thats the thing. If you win games like the Nova and Pitt strecth, then Pearl becomes less of the issue and the winning and potential becomes more. However, blasting Pearl offers an excuse to the public and deflection from some of the bad losses. If Pearl were on the sideline with no looming penalties and this team was losing like this, everyone would think the program is headed to the ****ter. Although it might be depending on the outcome, the BP situation offers deflection from some of the real problems if present.

I see what your saying, but for those of us who watch the games at home, it has gotten REALLY old, and Nova, Pitt were no exception. BUT...rather than complain, I've decided to bring back my old drinking game. The last time I played was during the Wade Houston era. Everytime the game day crew and game time announcers say Pearl's name and NCAA in the same sentence...gulp. Anytime Hopson dribbles the ball off his feet...gulp...everytime Williams loses the ball...gulp...Everytime Steven Pearl gets...Well you get the idea, feel free to submit your "rules".:p

You're gonna be unconscious by the 4-minute TV timeout.

All the facts have been released by this point... So, by having Gameday it can't really get any worse. If we pull off a win, we will finally have something positive happen as a program. Also, the fact that we even have Gameday still means we are a program of importance.

That ESPN is smart enough not to waste valuable programming against an NFL playoff game. Got any other typically ignorant questions or are you too busy watching your program and its hobbit coach implode?

Tigers are not imploding. Cal's rejects are being weeded out because of attitudes. The good thing about freshmen is they become sophmores and juniors. We'll see which Tennessee program has "imploded" in the next 2 years.

I'll take Memphis' past and future over what UTK has done and has coming.

For those of us who think the situation has been talked about too much during the telecasts so far, wait for Saturday. It'll reach a whole new dimension. I'm not so much worried about that affecting recruits as I am the way we've been playing lately. What part of our style of play would encourage a top recruit to come here? I realize Tobias did but even with him, we don't see alot of the point/forward play he came here for.

Is our class set for next year? We've got to have a big man in a bad kind of way.

This +8. What top recruit would come to UT. I feel like the sec did what they had to do with the suspension because they wanted to try to keep a top visible program from falling apart in the sec. But espn is piling on and piling on and we all know every athlete watches espn. They are making sure that all parents and high schoolers know Pearl is the biggest piece of trash in the history of cbb. This is what will really affect our program al lthis constant negative advertising. As well as seeing how disorganized the coaching staff is. Pearl will at least be suspended for a year and what player has two years to give away. Obviously they hate UT and Pearl. Because everybody knows what all this coverage will result in.

My point is this is a slow slow death.

Yeah, that is why there are multiple reports of Assistant coaches being at odds with each other and the HC having to suspend multiple players indefinitely. One of which was dismissed all together.

Weeding out of Cal's players? So Kendrick was a Cal recruit? Weeding out Witherspoon in year 1 wold have been weeding out a Cal recruit, in year 2 you cant use that excuse anymore.

No genius. Niles, Sallie, Garcia, and Spoon. You might want to check Jeff Goodman's interview with Lute Olson from today. Better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are ignorant than to open it and confirm it.

You've got a stroke addled dinosaur as the main defender for the overmatched child you have coaching your team. That'll show us.
