College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

Big, big win for Kentucky. For a team that has been atrocious defensively, it was very impressive to see them go into Auburn and hold the Tigers below 60 on their home floor.

Things are really getting interesting in the SEC. Not at all inconceivable that Auburn and SC could both drop to 9-5 with the midweek road games they have coming up.

Bruce's team didn't do so well against Kentucky, hosting ESPN basketball game day today and tonight in front of a nationwide audience,

Get the feeling watching those Auburn guards that there are no barbershops in Auburn anymore,

Need to explain to the 99% of folks not watching

There were a few things, but the one that stood out the most is this: 2.9 seconds left, two point game. Mizzou guard is at the free throw line for the second of two free throws (he made the first). Seems like common sense to miss the free throw on purpose and try for an offensive rebound. Instead, Gates tells the guy to make the free throw.

Down one, Mizzou fouls with 2.0 seconds left. Ole Miss makes both free throws. Not nearly enough time to get any kind of decent look at that point so Mizzou loses.

Realistically, the odds were heavily against Mizzou regardless. Was just really dumb to approach the closing seconds the way he did imo. Better chance at getting an offensive board than making the contested three quarter court shot.

My Sycamores haven't won a game since being ranked for the first time in 40 years. 🤬
They’ve probably been reading the press clippings and letting the national adoration go to their heads. I don’t mean that in a bad way - just that it’s not uncommon for a team to be in the spotlight all of a sudden and lose focus on just playing basketball. I’m rooting for them!

The looked like the next FAU or San Diego St and now they are about to be on the bubble having to win the conference tournament.

You’re right about that. They laid an egg after beating the Salukis by 29 the first time they played. They should take a ton of fans to St. Louis in a couple weeks for the MVC tourney.
