College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

Houston may get a 1-seed but it won’t be at our expense as long as we keep winning. We’re ahead of them. You have BVS.

It has nothing to do with BVS. It’s just an opinion. The Committee doesn’t HAVE to keep Houston behind us even if we win out. I’m just telling you that if there is a 19-1 Big 12 Champion Houston my opinion is they are going to get the last 1-seed and not a 3rd SEC team. There isn’t a rule that requires a team to lose for another team to jump them. The Committee could fabricate a number of different defensible reasons as to why they decided to jump Houston over us if it happens.

Best case scenario would be to win out and for Bama to beat Florida. Still not sure that would be enough to jump both of them tho.

Would be wonderful if Georgia could pull something out of their a** and beat Florida tomorrow prior to our game.

This. I think our best shot is likely some chaos in the SEC and Florida dropping another game or 2.

Never in the history of seed reveals has a team ranked three spots ahead of another team won the rest of their games and been jumped by that team. Or either of the teams in-between. That’s not opinion, it’s fact.

Too far out to even tell tho. We all just assume Florida will beat A&M at home and Georgia on the road. Could easily lose to one of them and then beat Bama. Just never know what will happen but we’ll more than likely need some chaos between Florida and Bama

I’m well aware of the situation. There are still a lot of games left to play, and we may stumble ourselves and make this entire point moot. That is probably more likely than both us and Houston winning out. Just pointing out an opinion that is not that uncommon, which is that the Committee probably doesn’t want 3 1-seeds from the same conference if there is a viable alternative. And, yes, I know it’s happened before. But it’s rare.

If we both win out, they’ll have a tough time dropping us behind them given that our remaining schedule is tougher.

Houston wins. That sucks. Not feeling great about our chances of getting a 1-seed. My personal opinion is the Committee will not have 19-1 Big 12 Champ Houston on the 2-seed line which is where this is trending. Pretty favorable schedule for Houston down the stretch.
We win out we will have 2 more Quad wins and with a win over Bama I can't possibly see how we are not ahead on the S-Curve.

Just as many are killed by speeders. Speeders get citations.

Yes. SOME people are calmer after a couple of beverages and drive better.
Two quick points:

1. If you need a couple beers to be calm enough to drive, you’ve got some really serious issues and probably need some actual medication and also shouldn’t have a license.

2. A couple of drinks won’t get you anywhere near the legal limit unless you’re a child (and a scrawny one at that).

3. (I know I said a couple, but I thought of one more.) A lot more people speed than are drinking and driving. It’s also a dangerous and selfish activity, but it’s not nearly as dangerous on a per instance basis as driving while intoxicated. The whataboutthat defense just doesn’t hold water.

If we win out, Alabama isn’t even in the conversation. We’re ahead of them, but we wouldn’t be competing with them for the last spot. Look, the probability of both of us winning out is probably exceedingly low. But if it did happen there will be plenty of data points available to support the idea of Houston as the 1-seed. It’s not some far-fetched idea. They technically have a better combined Q1+Q2 record than we do right now.

I never said they were. It should have been obvious to a child I was talking about Houston.
Obviously if we win out Alabama isn't in the conversation because we will have beat them.🙄

If we win out, and so does Houston, will have 2 more Quad 1 wins then they have.
You can't necessarily just take their quad 2's and add a couple together and VOILÀ you got you a quad 1 equivalency.
Those quad 2 wins have to be looked at and valued on the strength of the team played compared to the strength of the quad 1 you are trying to rival.
In reality it could take multiple quad 2's to equal one strong a$$ quad 1.
If we win out I'd be willing to bet right now our wins are stronger than theirs.

This is not how the committee looks at it exactly. They’ll look at the Quads and yes we would have more Q1 wins but they’ll look at the TOTAL Q1/Q2 wins together. They do it every year and use it as a reason why they did this and not that. As well as the bad losses (if any) in Q3/Q4. But it’s not about what we think should happen or what the right way to look at it should be, it’s about the people on the committee and what they will actually do. And when you have 2 teams that you’re comparing that would be as close to equal as it can get, they’re not gonna put 3 SEC teams on the 1-line especially over a Big 12 Champ that only lost 1 conference game. Like it or not, we can argue that all day long. Our fight is no longer with Houston unless they were to sleep walk in one of their games. It’s now with Florida and Bama (given that Houston wins out). Because I can almost guarantee you that committee has Houston ahead of Tennessee right this second.

Let's say Tennessee wins out and wins the tournament? You still think they give it to Houston? Even if Houston wins their conference tournament?
I highly doubt that, SEC has been way too tough this year. BTW, Vanderbilt could becomes a quad 1 by end of the year giving us another quad 1 win. ( probably not but could)
Do we have to win the Tournament to get that #1 seed? Not necessarily but it could be what we have to do to necessarily cement that #1 seed.

There's a reason we were ranked ahead of them when the sixteen were revealed. We just beat the team ranked two spots above them, too. Have a chance to beat the team ranked 6 spots above them, also. Yes we losses to Kentucky on the road, but they # 12 Net. That doesn't pull you down much at all compared to the two big potential wins we will have got in a week if we beat Bama.

We beat Bama, Bama beats Flordia, we win out, and we'll jump both of them. We'll be ranked #4 no less, and at that point look at our Quad 1 wins compared to Florida. Oof....
