They lack a commitment to their programs. They simply dont spend the money. I dont know why, they just dont. I'll agree its a fun place to go watch a slaughter though.

i suppose not firing hawkins is a perfect example of what you are talking about

depends on the conference they're from and what they've proven throughout the season. TCU and Boise don't draw because their gaudy records still mean nothing.

I think if you had a Big 12 conference title game of Nebraska versus TCU, whatever bowl got the winner would still be pulling for Nebraska.

They were one of the two marquee teams when the league was formed and have dropped no lower than #3, despite the struggles of recent years. TCU or Utah is not the same from a fanbase or TV standpoint.

I'm starting to see this Hat's way. Big 12 just adds a couple of equal or better quality replacements and moves on.

Doubt it. If everything that is going around takes place it doesn't look good for the big 12. Colorado has already made the jump to the pac 10 and Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St., Texas A&M and Texas Tech have been in the discussion. Nebraska and Missouri is expected to join the Big 10. If this all happens, the Big 12 will probably fold.

As I've mentioned, the thing that gets me going most about all of this is complete restructuring/dissolving of the BCS and, God willing, the new super conferences leaving the NCAA.

I hear you, but I think there's virtually no chance of that. I don't really think this will help with getting a playoff either. I can see one conference adding semi-finals before the championship game but no NCAA playoffs.

The mere fact of super-conferences is kind of like a de facto playoff. You get four champions determined by championship games and the BCS, if it survives, adding a plus-one like they've been talking about, and that is essentially an eight team playoff.

The plus one was voted down by the conferences that are turning into the super conferences.
