short rant;

How does Comcast stay in business with arguably the worst customer service attitude of any company in the country? Ordered service 2 weeks ago and due to work/life the earliest install appointment we could do was yesterday. My wife arraigned to work from home to be there for the tech between 8am and noon, come 12:30 still no tech.

I call the customer service line and I'm told the appointment was canceled because the 3rd party authorization (to port phone number) wasn't done. Not only did they not call to let us know the appointment was canceled they inform me if I did the authorization now it would be three days before they can install. Well my next availability is this Saturday morning and yep you guessed it they are full so cant do it.

I guess my biggest issue is 1. no call to let us know they were not showing up 2. they dropped the ball and act as if it is our fault 3. they don't give a shizz and act as if it is a burden to talk to you.

Today I pulled our business account, yes small business so they will not care but it's something.

/end rant

Comcast's customer service was the reason why we switched about four years ago. We haven't looked back either. I am sure there are people who have good experiences with Comcast but it seems more people have bad experiences.

They treat people like garbage because they can. I used to deal with Direct TV and they were so much easier to deal with. If they offered internet then I would switch to them in a heartbeat.

I've never had Comcast but I have similar complaints with Charter.

Down here they have a monopoly. Many subdivisions and apartments don't let people have satellite and the only cable provider is Comcast. Most people hate them and would switch in a second if they could.

Simple. Lack of competition means they can act how they want. And by lack of competition, I mean no other cable company competing for business, not satellite. If there were 2 cable companies in the area, I would suspect you would see much better customer service.

This is the issue in my area, although it's changing now as the phone company is offering fiber optic.

We've been waiting for FIOS to hit our neighborhood for a couple of years now. They keep saying "soon."

I have Uverse now and it's fine. The only reason I'm switching is AT&T refuses to move my phone line. Instead of coming off the pole in front of the house, the line comes off a pole 1/8 mile down the road, up the ditch and through my backyard. It was cut numerous times while neighbors built houses and now we want to install a pool which the line would have to be moved or cut. If we cut it, we have to pay but they will not move it.

Comcast's line comes off the pole in front of the house. Outside of that I wouldn't be changing.

I hate AT&T (home phone) as much I do Comcast (cable and internet). Eventually I'll switch to EPB for all of it.

Charter sucks, the monthly bill goes up a few bucks every month, no benefits for longtime customers. They told me if I cancel my service for 60 days I can get the promotional rates again, wow. Netflix here I come.

had a couple of billing issues with Fios in the beginning but once those were cleared up it has been great.

We have lack of competition for a while here in Chattanooga and when EPB decided they were going to start offering cable with fiber, Comcast tried to block them from doing it.

I live in Chattanooga and we recently switched from Comcast to EPB Fiber Optic and have not looked back! It's a much better/faster service and I don't have internet connection drop outs like I used to constantly have with Comcast!

I've had nothing but trouble with Comcast and that includes first and foremost a horrible customer service experience....at least they used to have (for years) an active customer retention group to make it financially attractive to stay with them, now days they won't do much if anything for you....

So many industry's have improved quality and customer service.....automotive...appliances....electronics....not cable, at least not Comcast...

A few years ago I was so upset with them I inquired as to which governmental agencies they worked under...everyone I spoke to was so vague...my wife's an attorney so I asked her to check it out....she said the code in the TN law was 30+ years old, written by the industry representative, and only required them to 'count' customer complaints, not do anything with them, just count and retain the number...local governments have very limited powers IE Knox County but one commissioner has that and utilities under his charge but won't really listen to concerns other than to invite you to speak at a monthly meeting they have....and to sit next to him so he might get some exposure on TV...

They all suck. I choose Comcast because nobody else can touch their internet service in regards to speed.

I chose them because of OnDemand. No one else has an OnDemand service like theirs. But yeah I hate them. They just added an HD Technology Fee of $10 per month.

That's not the case in Chattanooga. EPB Fiber Optic blows the doors off of Comcast high speed and it's cheaper!

Yes. Simple answer and an example of why monopolies are bad.

fiber service from Verizon. Not in many areas but it is great service and the speeds are better than any others I've seen

Similar experience with Verizon fios here in Tampa although I'd say the service is acceptable as opposed to great. They do beat my old cable operator (Brighthouse) by miles and miles.
