Comeback or surprise driver of the year?

In Carl's defense, he takes losing better than a lot of drivers. I noticed that he was the first guy at Jimmie's car to congratulate him when Jimmie won during their battles in the chase last season. Maybe he just likes Jimmie or something. :)

That's the game he likes to play.

I cann see McMurray having a good season. He'd better, with the new team limits i'd expect he'll be looking for a seat next year.

McMurry and the 26 will most likely just be moved under the Yates banner. He will move shops but basically have the same equipment. Jack will still have his hands all over it.

i'm going to have to see a lot more out of the Dodge cars before i even think that Kurt Busch is going to have some kind of break out year.

Cautious pessimism? :) I cannot see Penske being down another year, plus Busch is undisputed lead driver on team.

I understand your thinking, don't want to be disappointed again?

The 44 car raced pretty good last night.

Yeah, Allmindinger (sp?) is my pick, and I wish they would run that paint scheme all year. Old school Petty Blue with Valvoline? Heck, ya.

I would love to see someone different get in the chase and mix it up with the regulars. I do like Hendrick MS but I realize it's bad for the sport if Jimmie wins another championship this season.

Would it not be cool to see Mark Martin win a championship and go out on top like John Elway? I know the odds are against him but that would be fun to watch.

if not the championship then atleast his 1st daytona 500
trophy

I will be both surprised and disappointed if Mark Martin doesn't win a race this year. I will even go so far to predict at least two wins.

nah, nothing to do with disappointment.

i haven't seen a single thing from their CoT program that leads me to believe they'll have any kind of success. if KB makes the Chase, i'll be shocked.

Joey Lagano. The boy will be good.

Look at Casey Atwood. He was in Lagano's shoes a few years back. Where is he now? I hope Lagano does well. He has paid his dues working up through the ranks(mostly because NASCAR's age limit rule). There will be so much pressure on him. Most 18 yr olds would crumble under that kind of pressure. As long as he starts off ok and doubt or fear doesn't set in he will be ok. The first 7 or 8 races will be the deciding factor of his season.

I think it's pretty cool the way Home Depot has transitioned from Smoke to Lagano through their commercials.

I expect JPM will move up into being a semi-regular threat...to win (not to wreck).

I'm curious to see how they do merging with DEI and switching to Chevy. The COT should make that an easy transition since they all look a like now. I would prefer to have the DEI Chevy engine under the hood rather than a Ganassi Dodge and he has the Target sponsor so he should do well.

I can't say it's really a comeback, but I would really like to see Smoke make the Chase with his car this year. Early on in his career, he made no friends with his attitude. Now I see him as aggressive, but also a leader in the garage when the sport desperately needs one. There will never be a leader like Big E, but I think Tony is trying!
