Comic Books

As I've been maintenancing my collection, I came across the series, Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight. I started buying them in the 90's with the thought that it would be cool to have a complete run of a solo Bat title and that was the first solo title since 1940. I knew a full Batman run of the OG was not an option, heh.
However, the stories all ran in 5 issue arcs which to me seemed to deter some possibly great storylines. Not all stories necessarily needed 5 issues and some might be better if they got more.
In the long run, I found that if I didn't like the first issue or two of a story, I would be like, great, now I have to wait 3 more issues before the next story arc.

Enjoying some older Iron Man books. Picked these up this week. Have some Tales of Suspense incoming today.View attachment 718377
Love the old Tales of Suspense, Tales to Astonish, etc.
On a side note, I've always thought that Iron Man and Submariner #1 is extremely underpriced since it was leading into their solo books. Picture for reference-

If anybody likes BIG books I highly recommend the Taschen Marvel Library. They are like omnibuses but they use high quality scans of original copies instead of the over saturated recolored versions Marel publishes in house.

They are pricey but they do two sales each year which is one I grab them at 50% off.

TASCHEN Books

I noticed they also started doing the first Spidey and Avengers in a standard 8.4 x 11.9 in.

I prefer the oversized XXL but they are harder to store.

Snake Eyes mini con is still going on today at Rothchild's on Kingston Pike. Think it's $5 to get in. Quite a few comic book dealers were there yesterday. It's a blast from the past if you remember the old comic book shows at local hotels back in the 80s and early 90s.
I prefer the smaller shows over the big conventions.

For bigger conventions, Heroes Con in Charlotte is the best comic book convention I've ever been to in 35 years of going to cons. The sheer number of comic creators there is amazing. Vendor wise, it's probably 65% + comic dealers so if you're looking for harder to find books or higher end stuff, it's a great place. There's some basic pop culture stuff there but it is clearly focused on comics.

The small shows are fun because a lot of the time it's local folks who do just that show or only smaller shows. Might find some cool deals on obscure things.

Heroes is a great store in South Charlotte. Used to go there regularly when I lived there.
