Why do some fans fuss about things as small as a checkerboard stripe on the helmet? If the players who actually play the game like it, then I'm fine with that. I don't think I as a fan should get to tell them what they should and shouldn't do, plus I think it looks pretty bad ass. Just my opinion.

So may I ask which player you are? Btw, for the record, I realize it wasn't real. Some fans do fuss about things the players do like and want though.

I don't have to be a player to know this pic is completely irrelevant to any real uniform discussion

people like to claim the uniforms the players want will do something to help recruiting/play on the field/grades/lawn care/world hunger/etc. Those are of course ridiculous but get repeated anyways. If you're always following the whims of a 17-21yo then it will be hard to keep any tradition.

I like the helmet. Very recognizable still but with some new touches. I like the orange facemask especially

God has nothing to do with this, nor any human made fashion design. However, He has a hint of color craziness, which is pretty cool actually. just take a look at some Hubble Telescope pictures in standard visible spectra. Or look at a mountain meadow on a fine spring day. The greens are not all the same hue, flowers are a riot of colors along with some you'd call drab. Same thing with birds. Would be interesting to see what He came up with if He was interested in such mundane things as Vols helmet and uniform colors.

You could be right but far as we know, the players haven't given their input on this. I'd bet they'd like it.
It isn't going nuts, and I do mean nuts like those haphazard Maryland helmets. Those Kent State sun with eyes thing. The Oregon vomit headgear. Or the mess made of the iconic Norte Dame helmets. As long as we avoid that by integrating only modest touches of traditional concepts and leaving the overall look as it is, we're OK

the fact is, times change, and uniforms can change. I assure you the Power T will never go anywhere, but the peripherals around it are bound to.
