Commodity shortages

Sort of? The boom that ended up occurring never would have happened with 15% inflation, no matter what had been previously deregulated.

So he gets ALL of the credit for the economy turning around? Nobody else? Not even the person who appointed him? Not even the person that signed off on the most sweeping deregulatory legislation probably in history?

Might be time to roll back the tariffs put in place by the stable genius but they are bringing thousands of good jobs back to our job starved workforce. Unfortunately Biden doesn't know what tariffs are

Carter had little to do with his economy and a lot to do with the boom in the 80's. He's unfairly maligned. I have no hope for Biden to be the great deregulator that Carter was, but he will probably be unfairly maligned for this shaky economy. Trump intervenes in the market and disrupts supply chains with tariffs in his failed trade wars and then we have a pandemic, and here we are now with supply chain problems. This isn't on Biden.

Yea it most certainly is on Biden. It’s his show. This supply chain problem is BS. There are no shortages. The economy did well under Trump yet he got no credit. It was all thanks to Obama. Now Trump is getting blamed for everything. His tariffs did little in the way of bad things.

This has nothing to do with Trump.

Do you think Jimmy Carter (or Reagan) was telling him to raise rates? This isn't like a head coach/offensive coordinator relationship.

Volcker was the most credentialed guy on a list of current Federal Reserve officials that some economic adviser put in front of Carter, so he got picked. The Federal Reserve Chair is not a political or legal position, so those guys have no idea who they are really picking. The rate increases that ultimately killed the inflation didn't occur until Carter was out of office anyway.

What?

The economy was effectively 100% shut down for about a period of about 6 weeks last year, longer in some specific locations. Demand is now firing on all cylinders again just 12 months later. It is not shocking in the slightest that there are supply chain issues everywhere.

Examples of supply chain issues as a result of Trump's tariffs and trade wars?

And the pandemic is over so what is Biden doing to help alleviate the current supply chain problems? Absolutely nothing.

That was a year ago. Like with toilet paper and meat last year, it was never a supply problem. Product would come in and be gone before the stores could refill. And now, a random time in May there are these shortages? BS.

There's nothing Joe Biden can do to alleviate supply chain problems. The supply chain problems are caused by everything coming to a screeching halt in March/April 2020, then demand returning to pre-pandemic levels 10-12 months later. Massive global supply chains just cannot move that fast. Nothing more, nothing less.

There was absolutely a supply problem with meat and chicken. Still is.

If you think that these supply issues are limited to "a random time in May," you haven't been paying attention. They have been existence for many months now (particularly one like the chip shortage) and as demand continues to build post-pandemic it has gotten worse.

Demand moves faster than supply.

I fault him for not trying to get the supply chain problems under control now that the pandemic is clearly over. His policies and stance on Covid continue to exacerbate this issues.

Ordinarily tariffs is not a good thing because it stifles competition but when it comes to china it is.

There are absolutely shortages. Not sure where you came up with that gem

The economy also tanked under Trump. It was his show. The tariffs hurt too

How is Joe Biden supposed to alleviate supply chain problems in the microchip industry? What did he do to cause them? Are their supply chain problems because Joe virtue signals with is mask?

Y'all do the same thing you made fun of liberals for with Trump.

For starters, end the extended unemployment. Using lumber as an example, this will put people back to work in the sawmills and alleviate the bottle necks for delivery.

You could have been sleeping the past 3 years and still know that Trump increased tariffs on steel and lumber and those are two commodities specifically mentioned in OP. I'm sure that's not the entirety of his contribution to this issue.

The economy tanked under Trump because of fear mongering and, again, paying people not to work.

This "pandemic" was never as bad as people let on. And the effects will take years to come back from if ever. So, a huge ****ing then you to all the idiots that made this possible.
