Commodity shortages

There is a simple solution to end the war, Russia leaves Ukraine and ends its idiotic war that will accomplish little in the long run

Or we stop putting ridiculous sanctions on Russia. Let them and Ukraine deal with their own problems. But no it’s much better to put even more ridiculous sanctions and causing damage to the American people and many other places around the world because red man bad right?

I was commenting on the sanctions just the stupidity of the war which is the crux of the entire problem that you two can’t seem to grasp.
It is clear that you are biased in your outrage over this because Russia is doing nothing different than what America would have done if this were Cuba or Mexico instead of Ukraine.

Is this your equating the Mexican War from 180 years ago over a state that wanted to join the US with an ex Soviet state unwilling to rejoin Russia? Wake me up when the US invades Cuba; Mexico has done more to damage the US over the last 50 years through cartel violence, drug smuggling, and human trafficking than Ukraine has ever dreamed of.

No need to go back 180 years because we have the Cuban Missile crisis and Mexican Revolution before that. But even still, the circumstances and justifications used in the events from 180 years ago are the same. Just because these things happened along time ago, that doesn't mean that they are not relevant examples.

And again, the question that you guys don't want to answer is why is this situation between Russia and Ukraine so unique? Why is it a special case that necessitates such a emotional and disjointed reaction?

So one shortage/dearth I have noticed is on the options of stuff. Like doritos. Used to be you could find 4-6 different flavors. Now you get two, cool ranch and the original.nacho cheese.

Ritz are similar. Noticing it was some meat products as well. The aisles are stocked, but the options are down.

Weirdly all the JIF peanut butter was gone. Maybe there was a recall.

There was a recall on Jif for possible salmonella.

I think it’s driven by what raw materials the producers can get. Aluminum went missing last year I think so Coke and Pepsi really pared back what was being sent to stores. The more obscure and less popular products disappeared. If you’re having trouble procuring corn or the ingredients for flavorings the more exotic products get yanked first. I’m interested in watching how jif comes out of this, I noticed at food city they’ve replaced all the Jif shelf space with FC peanut butter. Will people decide that the store brand isn’t so bad especially for the price? I had to toss $25 worth of peanut butter, the money is not nearly as important as no longer having that in the pantry.

Where I’m at there are some pretty good prices on meat for the Father’s Day weekend. I went to Kroger for my smoking meat and got a 11.5 lb whole brisket for $20! It’s a $70 cut of meat normally. And the loin ribs were about $15/ rack. Pleasantly surprised. Hopefully the meat processing constraints are getting better.
