Points for 51st - 36 points
Points against 21st - 13 points

Tennessee played USU and Ark. St. Combined USU and ASU's 2013 teams went 17-10

Oklahoma

Pass yards 41st - 286 yards

Points for 10th - 50 points
Points against 14th - 11.5 points

Oklahoma played Louisiana Tech and Tulsa. Combined Louisiana Tech and Tulsa's 2013 teams went 7-17

Oklahoma's stats should be way better considering their competition.

I'm feeling pretty good heading into Norman.

If they are 10th in Point for with 50, then what does number one have?

Utah state was one of the best run defenses last season. Our competition is a lot better.

It's early in the year. I'm sure the number one team has played two division 2 schools and put up 77 each week.

Exactly. Texas A&M, for example, has scored 52 & 73 pts their first 2 games. That's 62.5 ppg.

Comparing these teams off of such a small sample size, which is not even really comparable as between the teams played, is utterly ridiculous.

The teams we played are far better then the teams Oklahoma played.

If we played their schedule we would have comparable or better stats.

Here's a comparison for ya, despite the past five years, Tennessee is still the winningest football program from 1950 forward . 606-361- 53 all-time, including the victory over a-state. Proof positive the Vols have a winning tradition.

Not with our O-Line, and not in Norman is what I keep telling myself. I understand the whole strength of opponent argument though, I really do. But OK hasn't necessarily been down recently, and we are just now getting traction with a roster full of freshmen. Of course I want the win! But if we can go in there and AT LEAST make them pee themselves just a little, I'm cool with it.

I'm having Oregon week flashbacks

We are better than last year. I am more concerned about a power run team. Not sure our D-line can take the pounding. Also Stoops will try to make another statement vs. the mighty SEC. I just hope Butch can work some magic. Go Vols!!

I want to state for the record that I think the Vols can compete.

But don't try to dismiss Oklahoma and diminish them in some manner. Oklahoma is one of the best football teams in the country with a ridiculous home record under Bob Stoops.

It is a major, major challenge.

Don't try to kid yourselves.

I'm all for sunshine pumping, but come on. If we can keep this game to within two touchdowns it would be a major victory.

I just hope whoever calls TN's plays has kept it very vanilla on purpose playing two teams one ranked 110 and the other 78. If he isn't TN is in trouble. They need to get the ball in Hurd's hands in the open field and wide.

Im tired of getting blown out. I just want to be competitive again. One step at a time. I think with this defense those 55 pt. games are a thing of the past.

Did Tennessee play their backups in the second half? I really don't know. Stats on a computer don't tell the story of a game. In the second half of the OU game, I saw and heard so many last names I hadn't been aware of since the spring game, it was hard finding a player I recognized.
