Complete Effort Earns Complete Victory

Dang Straight! After Wichita St, the conventional wisdom on this board was that the LVs were doomed against Stanford. Now it's "eh, well Stanford sucks!"

The LVs defense made Stanford look bad. Anyone who is not encouraged by the performances against Rutgers and Stanford is well why bother following the team?

I can't wait to see the inevitable "well, that was a win but we STILL MUST FIRE HOLLY" thread.

I actually predicted we would win this game by 13, cos Stanford sucks, we are encourgae but you act like we have arrived, like we won a championship.

I follow this team cos they were molded by someone, I thought was great, excellent, that's the standard and will always be the standard for this fan.

But I have enjoyed the effort by the players, yes they are playing or looking like lady vols, but dang...its a win against a down Stanford team, come on we know a good team when we see one and Standord wasn't that good.

Don't chastise me if losing is acceptable or losing to UTC is acceptable or not making to thr final 4 is acceptable.

Check the rosters of both teams for all the ones who played. It might be surprising. I enjoy the majority of your posts, but this one..not so much.:hi:

How many games have you watch Stanford play?

Stanford is young and inexperience and this win was nice but it certainly didn't tell us much about our team, why cos Stanford wasn't able to capitalize on our mistakes.

I love the effort on defense and boards my favorite.

But they beat Uconn...get out here if you cant see Stanford is not that good.

And its each program reloads, they won when we had a young and inexperience team and they had the Ogwumkies.

Happy Holidays, yes I wont be mad over the holidays yes, cos frankly Im usually pissed off for a few days too.

Nice win. Like I said, the Rutgers win was more impressive, then the grit showed playing less than 48 hours later against WSU, but I do think we are heading in the right direction, if defense and rebounding and high effort stays our calling card.

Defense, rebounding, and good guard play win championships.

Why do people keep talking about Stanford being a young team? The players with the most minutes are 3 seniors, 2 sophomores and 1 freshman.

Pat Summitt is a great person to respect and revere and her coaching accomplishments may never be equalled.

But, it was also under CPS that the teams consecutive streak of Sweet 16's ended and the drought of no final four appearances began. For CPS, it was four misses in a row.

And yes, her health problems likely played a role but the fact is that the program slipped from its lofty standards under CPS. It is a hard climb back up the pinnacle and I suggest appreciating all the small victories on the way.

Your suggestion is not noted, how do you know I don't enjoy the victories along the way, I enjoy every play on offense and defense, every second if the lady vols are playing hard, going all out on both ends of the floor.

Don't assume, the message board is great because everyone is able to share their point of view, they might be different than your own but it does in no way make your views superior or better than anyone else.

I don't feel Stanford is a good team right now. And there's nothing anyone can say to make me change that.

Young and inexperience can also mean lack of playing time. A person can be a junior but if they only played 5 minutes each game do you consider them a veteran, no we call em inexperience.

If I don't enjoy reading anyone's post I ignore em, do the same but I shall post the way I feel and what I see, coming from a die hard lady fan for over three decades, an athlete who played at a high level D1 and coached.

PHS standard is excellence period. The Lady Vols standard is excellence period. And I would take a healthy PHS over any coach in the game any day.

90% of the time, she won. Gone.

How many you played D1 ball and/or, played on a championship team? Exactly. I didn't think so.

we are rowing upstream. Good win to build on but so many missed shots. Holly needs to make room for a great offensive minded assistant coach on her bench or Holly needs to spend more time in practice and also demanding the ladies spend time at Pratt shooting more. The ladies need a couple more consistent outside shooters to stop teams from packing it in. Dunbar was recruited for this reason, but when you recruit the "specialist" sometimes, that is all they can do and may be weak in other areas which make them a liability. Holly needs to recruit the great "basketball players" and not just great athletes.

As in men's basketball, these athletes can jump thru the ceiling....... but most of the time cannot handle the basketball or hit a shot. Holly needs to find the special ones who are great athletically and possess great basketball skills.

She's called Diamond Deshields, she's prolly working on her three point shot, her only glaring weakness but she played hurt as a freshman.

Stay tune.

yes stanford beat uconn.... i do think that game, for those who saw it was more about uconn losing it than stanford winning it..... ever since uconn has looked like a totally different team.....

Stanford has looked completely different as well. Since carving up UConn's defense, they have been absolutely dismal on offense... shooting even worse than Tennessee. Wonder if Tara is having second thoughts about moving away from the triangle.....

Defensive much? BTW, CPS's career winning % was 84% (and 81% over he last 4 years), quite impressive nonetheless. Holly is currently at 81% as well.

But as you advise, I will start ignoring your post since you seem to take any dialogue, differing opinion, or contradictory as a personal attack and/or an assault on the legacy of CPS.

As for:
"How many [of?] you played D1 ball and/or, played on a championship team? Exactly. I didn't think so."

Ah, you might be surprised.......

Defense and rebounds win championships. lol

Versus unranked teams over 90%. Yes, I defend Pat, cos I love everything she stood for. And yes, I take anything that is not excellence as a personal attack on PHS, especially if you dont defend or rebound, toughness. I back Pat and roll with Holly.

Actually, I come to message board to engage in dialogue, it helps me to see the ladies from so many different perspective. Sometimes I read something, then I'm like hmmm I see where they're coming from... like Amb don't always agree but, nice view points etc...

Most boards usually breaks down into three types of posters: pessimist, realist, and optimist. I'm a realist, with optimist tendencies.

of? you funny...lol Can you please edit all my posts you will find more errors?

Nice, so you should know better athlete...Mad, happy holidays but to quote Chris bull**** post, thought you were talking to me... cos his post was all about me...and directed towards me.

Besides her own health issues, CPS was dealt a bad hand there at the end, with a bunch of injuries to key players (McMahan, Baugh, Cain) and a 6-pack that turned out to be mostly a bust (bad recruiting strategy there). I don't think anyone could have taken that group to a FF.

ruined her career. She managed one decent year--her last. That was tough because had she not had knee problems, she would have been an outstanding player. McMahan wasn't going to be very good, to be frank--another guard recruit lacking in quicks and athleticism, which has been a real problem over recent years. Cain would have helped, she was big (very big) and could score, though she was slow.

See ignore works well. All my board say is there was a message posted by someone who lack views of their own so attack those who do. Gone.

Lady Vols Ranked #8.... OSU #10....hmmmm

I've seen Pat did more with less, almost like she was desperate, one last hurrah. Still the greatest wcbb coach of all time, glad I got meet and know her, she changed my life for the better. Thanks Grandma.
