The city passed a law saying the Confederate flag can't be flown on their own property. I don't have a problem with that.

The whole Rebel Flag thing is stupid. I love being from the south put the only thing that flag symbolizes to me is a trailer park.

Please help me understand the true meaning because I'm from the south and love the south and have no clue.

I've always thought it was the battle flag of the confederacy. What else does it mean?

The Confederate Flag signifies "redneck" for me. Mainly because many fly it because they think it pisses people off. Up here, none of them are from the south, nor do they probably even understand it.
