This is why I have a hard time following international soccer. The officiating is so wildly inconsistent and suspiciously lopsided.

Altidore didn't help things by giving up in the box, he attempted a weak pass when he was in good shape to score a goal. He's a big guy, but he doesn't seem mature enough to be playing at this level.

USA has a tough draw. Brazil next, then Egypt.

The second and third goals weren't his fault, and Iker Casillas couldn't have stopped the first one. There was literally nothing Timmy could have done. Our back line is mediocre with everyone healthy. Without Cherundolo and Hayduk we're abysmal on defense.

Exactly. You don't start for Everton and beat out another quality keeper in Guzan if you're a crap keeper. We lost that game because we couldn't keep the pressure on with 10 men, and our back line is terrible.
