1990 UNLV
1991 and 92 Duke
1996 Kentucky

There is 4 and those teams played against much better teams than this team did. Hell even though they never won a NC, I'll take the Fab 5 in back to back finals over this team. The road to the final four is much easier now than it was in the 90's imo. This Kentucky team is good, all time top 5 at best.

From a pure matchup stance, Florida would've beaten Kentucky in their back to back championship run. That team was just too good defensively and very balanced offensively.

Name three teams since the shot clock era began that could even come close to being as good as this team.

It's impossible to compare. Championship teams 25 years ago had tons of talent relative to their time, and had it all over Kentucky as far as experience. Kentucky is nothing but Freshman and Sophomores who are no-doubt more talented than underclassmen 25 years ago, but how do they compare to the talented Juniors and Seniors form days passed? We need a time machine to figure that out.

Butthurt thread imo.

One of the best teams ever in college basketball during the shot clock era.

Once again,. You don't like it, then don't come on here and read. Oh before you start your smart ass remarks, this was in the UT basketball thread.

I'd still like to see the Kentucky team with Wall and Cousins up against this team. That would be entertaining.

2008-2009 UNC was just as good or better. Won every game by at least 12 and I don't remember doubting for a second they would win.

Don't see how it's a "butthurt" thread when props are being given to UK. Of course, I do realize when someone strikes a nerve there is usually a lot of truth as to what's being said.

As for one of the best teams ever? Whatever you say homer.

Im don't think this is the best UK team, much less overall.

It's almost a waste of time talking to superfans such as this one. He has no ability whatsoever to grasp how one would begin to compare past champions. He's just another guy who says something to see if it sticks. Nothing more.

While we're naming past teams. How bout the 85' Patrick Ewing led Hoyas(I think it was shot clock era). Only lost 3 games by a combined 5 points including the NC to Villinova.

How bout the 02' Carmelo Anthony led Orangemen. That was a pretty darn good team.

Suppose Calipari has been squeaky clean since he got to UK, due to the notion that he doesn't have to cheat there. That would mean that he only worked the system to advance his career until he reached the top. Still a scumbag.

Had either Syracuse or North Carolina not lost a key player, there's a fair chance UK would not have won the tournament. They have a great team, but it worked out that they didn't have to beat the other top teams to win it this year.

True and if they hit a free throw last year they're in the NC game against Butler

And if they don't go 2-26 in 2010 they're in the FF without KU who was the best team in that year's NCAAT.

NCAAs have a lot of randomness but this year the team who was the favorite to win it all won it all so hard to really say it was unfair. True they caught some breaks with UNC and Cuse but still had to lace them up against IU (a team that beat them already) UofL (a team that wasn't scared of UK because they played them already this year) and Baylor - the only team (along with UNC) that could match their athleticism and length and top it off against KU a team that was second in defense...not the worst road a champ has ever had to face but not a cakewalk either.

Proud to be a UK homer. And I hardly call it "giving props" when you add subtle insults every time.

1990 UNLV team would beat Kentucky. 1992 Duke team would beat Kentucky. 2004 Conneticut team would beat Kentucky...

There's three...

90 UNLV and 92 Duke both would have a hard time with Davis, Duke less so... 04 UCONN would be outgunned at every position on the floor.
Teams I think could hang with '12 UK:
1992 Duke
1994 Arkansas (more because of their style of play)
1996 Kentucky
2005 UNC
