Today Duke won their 9th game. Spurrier never won 9 at Duke. Congrats to a good coach and and good man.
I love Butch Jones, and I hope he is with us for many years to come. But if in the future it doesn't work out for Butch UT would be stupid not to give Cut whatever he wants to come back. Duke football has been worse than Vandy and Kentucky combined, so what he has done is remarkable. I believe in Butch and feel sure he will get it done here, but if it doesn't, Cutcliffe would be our best option. Unfortunately Cut might never want to leave Duke. Less pressure, less stress. Let's hope Butch gets it done! Go Vols! Beat Vandy!:good!:

Love it!! Next week's game against NC is going to be huge. He could go to the ACC championship game.

Cut is an awesome coach, but he's better off staying at Duke due to his age and heart issues.

Uhh if he goes to the ACC championship game and wins a bowl. He will have to win the National Championship next year. :)

First 9 win season by Duke since 1941 (FDR was in office).

Next week, if Duke can beat UNC (who's gotten somewhat hot the last few games), he will become the first coach ever to win 10 games in a season at Duke.

Duke is the reverse of Knoxville. Hoops will always be king in Durham, therefore less pressure.

I don't know. If they get that taste it might, at the very least, be of equal importance. It is a lot like us. If we ever win a basketball championship I would love both sports probably about the same. Never mind you are right. I started thinking about all the great memories I have of football and basketball would be like the jealous next girlfriend always trying to live up to the first through no fault of her own. Christmas as an adult don't compare to Christmas as a kid. Sorry, I have derailed. :)

Perfect example of the benefits of giving a capable coach the time it takes to build a successful program.

Ole Miss is foolish for letting him go.

No he wouldn't have been great here. One good year after five horrible years. Please stop with the Cut threads. Spurrier coached there when there were 9 or 10 regular season games. Now there are 12.

All Vol fans know he's a great teacher and fundamental coach...when he came up as a replacement for Kiffin,I was skeptical of his long-term success due to his average recruiting...his less than dynamic personality wouldn't have been an issue because the Vol tradition evens that out...Chavis was no lock to be his DC because they weren't soul mates like many on here believe...he would have been successful here and maybe that's even selling it short...but he's in a great situation that fits him better...teaching more than legacy building
