Surely you aren't pretending that a baseball conf tourney title is worth anything more than an empty trophy. Baseball and basketball champs are season title holders.

I'm sorry, but the SEC Tournament bracket is a complete joke due to the new format, and I discussed this in the UT Baseball forum. It gives the #3 and #4 teams a better draw than the #1 and #2 teams, because they get a weaker opponent to advance to Thursday's winners' bracket, and they get Wednesday off. Also laughable is that the semifinals are somehow not double elimination. UK beat MSU on Thursday and lost to MSU on Saturday for UK's only loss. And, UK's out, and 1-loss MSU advances to the Final. I guess someone had to win this joke of a tournament.

Most senseless tourney format I have ever heard of.

I think ukvols is butthurt.

Really???

I don't care who won.

I'm just pointing out that it is an absolutely ridiculous tournament format. Usually, you only see something that idiotic in a local rec league.

Congrats to the MSU Bulldogs for doing what they needed to do to win the tournament, per the format.

Tennessee wasn't even in. I had no dog in the fight. If anyone's "butthurt," it's Kentucky, because they split with MSU. Or LSU, who had the top seed and still got a worse tourney draw than Kentucky.

And, come up with something a little more clever, original, and pc than "butthurt" next time.

Do you know what it feels like to be "butthurt"?
I don't (not that there's anything wrong with that).

I still don't understand why this guy brags so much about the worst school, academically and athletically, in the SEC.

I'm not one to hide an opinion, and I'm embarrassed that the SEC is putting on something this stupid. This is usually the conference that sets the pace for everyone else.

I think the professional NCAA people who set up the tournaments know a little more about how to set up a tournament than you do ukvols.

Congratulations on the win. I'm not accusing you of cheating.

But, if you can look at that format and not see something unfair about it, then you are analytically challenged.

Delmonico admitted to pitching scrubs during the tournament. He said it was better to rest his pitchers considering a getting in the tourney pretty much guaranteed you a spot in the 64.

You beat UK once and lost to them once. Explain to me the fairness in not having to play UK again.

They probably did it that way to avoid taxing the teams into playing extra games going into the national tournament.

The problem lies with inviting 10 teams and trying to make it double elimination for everybody. There is simply no good way to do that. They should either a) invite only 8 teams, or b) make the teams seeded 7th through 10th play each other in a one-game knockout to see who advances to the field of 8, and then make it double elimination the rest of the way.

I appreciate your congratulations but it just seems to me that you are a little butthurt, that is just my opinion though.

It's obvious that the planning of this format had everything to do with making money and nothing to do with finding a fair method for determining a winner.

They invited 10 teams instead of the previous 8 and guaranteed each team two games, probably to increase the number of fans who travel to Hoover to watch their team. But, I will personally never consider attending an event that is set up like a local kickball tournament.

I commented on this format in the UT Baseball Forum as soon as I saw it (last week before I'd even seen one result).
If you think my opinions of the tournament format are because I'm somehow "butthurt," then you're failing at reading comprehension today.

They play the tournament in an ugly stadium in an dumb suburb in Birmingham. That's reason enough not to attend.
