Of course we want 1st, but 2nd is nothing to sneeze at. Real accomplishment by our Lady Vols, and if they had not gotten shafted several times by stupid calls on Monday, we would have won that game, and it could have been much different.

You can be proud of the team without sticking your head in the sand though.

Velo's got a point. At some point they have to break through and win the damn thing. 2nd place is nothing to be embarrassed about, but there's also no glory in being runner up.

That she did. Rest of the team did as well, but they just ran into arguably the greatest softball team ever. They weren't ranked #1 all year for nothing. Congrats on a great season.

Same can be said for every other SEC team not named Alabama considering they're the only one to win a NC. UF has made the finals twice in the last 4 years or so and went away empty handed as well.

Hold your heads up girls - 2014 will be an NC year for UTs Lady Vols softball --- Lauren Gibson - Ivy - Raven and the other seniors, You all will be missed -- as for the Negavols on here -- football is only less than 3 months away -- try and get a life in the meantime.

Great Job Lady Vols. I was in 2 restaurants the last 2 nights and there were our hot LVs playing their hearts out with the world watching.

I am sad for this outstanding team and great group of seniors. This was easily UT's best softball team ever--that is saying something. It was and CERTAINLY worthy of being national champion. They showed that.

Unfortunately, for the second time, we could not get over the last hump. We blew it in 2007, when we were one hit away from the title, and then this year we ran into a great Oklahoma team, one of the best ever--but of course our chances were ruined by the epic collapse on Monday night, one of the most bitter defeats in UT history. It's tough. We should have /at least/ one national championship. It may take a while before we have a team this good--we had about six players of All SEC/All America quality, but the Weeklys have built a tremendous program and should be congratulated for that. The coaches have done a great job--UT softball is the BEST PROGRAM at UT, men or women. I'm still a bit stunned by the loss on Monday, but proud of these outstanding women and outstanding players. This was an absolutely STELLAR team, which makes the loss bittersweet for everyone.

Sportsfans across the nation know that Lady Vols softball is a national power. One of my TU friends now has another reason to know who is the real Big Orange. Congratulations to the Lady Vols for all their hardwork. You were a pleasure to watch during the season. The VolNation is very proud of you! Major kudos to making it to the National Championship!!

I am proud to be a Lady Vols softball fan and I thank them for such an exciting run through this tournament all the way to the Championship Series. :salute:

With Ellen Renfroe on the mound next year, we should have another great season.

It would be NICE if we could bring home a title in any sport soon. We've had the number 1 ranked men's tennis player twice in last two years, I think, and they flamed out early in the individual competition. I think we were number one in men's doubles--same thing.

Any other year THIS team would have won the National Title. That Sooner team may be the best team the WCWS has ever seen and they usually blow teams out. We gave them two great games and for getting to National Championship game I'm proud of our Lady Vols. Ellen is back next year, can't wait!
