Congrats, We won.

The word "Dominate" has a meaning that isn't "wins a bit more often". lol

If folks here aren't going to be happy until UT runs roughshod over today's SEC like we did when Bama, UGA and UF sucked as bad as the rest of the SEC, then they will literally be the legion of the miserable. I mean, Geez. Our national championship in the 90s needed a late-game Arkansas fumble-that-wasn't a fumble, miracle.

We now have Bama, UGA, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, TAMU. UF will get their **** together eventually. Ole Miss is throwing money at success, as is Mizzu, who's also throwing legislation at success.

If we are going to dominate, y'all better be praying for our success as well as several meteorite strikes.
I mean, I get it but I think what drives these teams is opposing fans talking smack. Everyone on this forum knows that annoying Alabama and/or Georgia fan and it gets old quick. That is what drives the pressure.

If you aren't satisfied today, it means expectations are high.

If you are happy, it means things have improved.

If you are still determining good, you can add a lot. Focus on adding positive content about recruits you love and on the misses you felt we squandered.

In the end, you finally are mostly all correct. We aren't hoping to improve; we are working to do better. We aren't just wishing we had studs; we landed some. We aren't hoping we beat some teams. We know we better.

Most of all, welcome back to being genuinely relevant. Teams celebrate when they beat us on the field again and in recruiting. It's not the other way around like it has been for too long.

We didn't win it all; we sure aren't done, but we took another big step in a positive direction.
What an awesome post. Couldn’t have been said any better.

Eh... I guess I get it.

But think about how odd that is. You are embarrassed by what someone says about performances in a game played by people neither of you actually know, so you ignore reality and refuse to be happy until the impossible happens.

That particular brand of pressure seems a bit self-destructive, no?

Try this next time. When they are acting like a toddler, you answer like an adult and see if it quietens them down. When they are ragging you, just nod your head and say, "OK."

Stare back at them in silence. Maybe even compliment the other team's play.

And if we're steadily competitive without the unrealistic need to be "dominant", you may even be able to say something like, "I'm sure we'll get you again next year like we did last year."

You're not a competitor. Therefore you will always lose.
lolol

Sitting on your sofa with a beer, critiquing the performance of others, while deriving self-satisfaction by the results of a game played by strangers is being "a competitor" and winning, huh? I guess you're just a modern day gladiator.

Obviously, you're not one either. Sip your hot chocolate and give your kids atta boys when they finish 7th in the latest squash tourney. Afterwards, a friendly game of Parcheesi will be fired up

All I'm saying is that mindset sends us to the citrus. Not settling for anything less than the best propels us forward. The heartache will suck more but that's the price you gotta pay. This is the culture aspect.

Oh, we get it. Your manly expectations and rock-solid fanhood are all but guaranteeing the Vols a championship. We should be adoring you instead of mocking you online as a caricature.

Thank you in advance.

"Four-star and five-star prospects are rated as 'blue-chip' prospects — Tennessee's class sits at No. 6 nationally in blue-chip percentage at 68.42%. " On3

I'm very satisfied with this class.

We have a relatively small class in quantity, and the overall national rankings take volume into effect in their format. That's why we are 13th by that calculation. In reality, we have a top ten class in quality.
Thanks for that perspective. Much better way to look at it.

We can't use facilities anymore to sell recruits....the schools after top recruits we are wanting have top rate facilities too. There was a time UT led the charge in facilities but that's not the case any longer. We are actually trying to catch-up on some of the facilities front..

Kids today wants to get in the league...they want a chance to play for championships. Something we've been lacking for several years...The players we signed today and players already here weren't alive when we won the national championship and won the SEC.

This argument is tired to me. Kids that went to Clemson and won 2 were born after their last one

End of the day facilities dont matter, honestly. Put guys in the league and overall you get better.

You can sell playing time in a rebuild, or if you're a snake oil salesman like butch every year(!).

You can sell coeds like lane did, but that's pretty trashy and possibly illegal.

You can straight up buy players. And occasionally we do that. And before anyone gets mad phillip probably did it and johnny probably did it. It's just legal now.

You can sell relationships with the staff, and that's the sweet spot every team wants to be in and they all claim to be in. It's good if it's true. Hopefully with this staff it's true. Anyway I think it is.

But in the end, if you can get a kid in the league... that's it. Period. The end. They'll wait their turn to play for you.

Facilities?... that's an old man joke. UT only built all that crap to offset the profit from the program. Gotta hide that cash in loans and construction. Funny thing about a nonprofit is that you really have to hide a pile of cash
Facilities matter lol

I am not satisfied. We should always be in top 10 in recruiting with a top 5 class every few years. With the facilities UT has, we should never be outside the top ten. I wouldn’t care if we were killing it in the portal but we are not doing that either. To me, we should be doing better on signing day as well as the portal.
Don’t put all your eggs on rankings. We’re getting the caliber of athletes that could lead to great things!

No, I am just saying that is what drives the pressure in the SEC. Coaches get fired because they go 0-5 against Alabama, etc. You have to beat Alabama at Auburn or Tennessee. The problem is to beat Alabama, you need National Title Contending teams.

They do. I was a musician back in the day. Auditioned at 4 different SEC schools and got 4 scholarship offers. Ole Miss’s offer went directly in the garbage because their facilities were complete and total amateur hour. I went inside UT’s Haslam Center, they went to the top of the list immediately and that’s where I ended up. Not because of the facilities alone, but they played a role, for sure. Switched to business after a semester because I didn’t want to be homeless after college, but I digress. I’m sure it’s the same for football recruits. Facilities aren’t everything, but they definitely need to meet a certain standard. It’s where you’re going to be busting your ass for 4 years, after all. Why do it in a dump?

NIL is not going to create overall parity as some believe. UGA, Bama and OSU will always be able to recruit well nationally. All others are more susceptible to losing top out of state recruits to the home state schools will can find enough NIL to keep the one big national recruit at home, see Mizzou with Nwaneri, OU with Okoye, Maryland with Seaton. All of those had legit interest with us, but home state schools able to find enough money to keep them home.

its not settling. Its recognizing progress. No one is saying this recruiting class is the best we want to do. People are saying this is a good class for us where we are, and that we aren't going to catch up, yet alone pass any of the top schools with one class.

Recognizing progress and accepting the process is part of winning, your attitude of win a title now or everything sucks is more in line with the transfer portal mindset of jumping to a winning program instead of staying and earning it.

Our current talent .89 gets us to a point where 8-4 is the floor. this recruiting class .91 is an improvement that should get us to where 9-3 is the floor, won't happen in a single year or recruiting class. once 9-3 is the floor, we get better classes like .92 which gets us to 10-2. and so on and so forth. Progress and process, unless you are some type of freak/best ever you can't just expect to skip steps to get where you want to be. It took Fulmer 5 years, with a much better roster, and probably the best player to ever wear Pantone 151, and worse SEC to even win the East.

You guys need to chill a little bit. The cake is still cooking. You are judging before it is finished cooking. There is still a lot of moving parts going on. Lets wait till it is all over with in Jan. before rushing to judgement. You could very well be getting your top 10 class.
Isn't recruiting reduced a couple because of cornbread's violations? I read somewhere that it is, which could make top ten more difficult for us.
