With a 31-0 lead and Brock Osweiler now at the helm, we can finally assess Peyton’s statistical brilliance this season. He finished 450-659 (68.3%) for 5477 yards, 55 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and a quarterback rating of 115.1. In the process, Peyton broke the following single-season NFL records:

Most passing yards, season: 5,477 (previously 5,476, Drew Brees 2011).

Highest yards per game, season: 342.3 (previously 342.25, Drew Brees 2011).

Most Passing Touchdowns, Season: 55 (previously 50, Tom Brady 2007).

Most Games 4+ TD Passes, Season: 9 (previously 6, Dan Marino 1984, Peyton Manning 2004).

Best touchdown pass–interception differential, season: 45 (previously 42 [50–8] Tom Brady, 2007).

There may not be a formal record for it yet, but Peyton is also the first quarterback to pass for 5,000 yards and fifty touchdowns in a single season.

Peyton also tied the single-season record for most games with at least 80% pass completion rate, season (minimum 20 passes per game): 3 (also held by Ben Roethlisberger, 2007; Brett Favre, 2009; Drew Brees, 2011).

Furthermore, Peyton tied the NFL single-game record for touchdown passes: 7 (first achieved by Sid Luckman in 1943 and since tied by six players, most recently Nick Foles).

Vol Nation is very proud of you, Peyton.

A historical year for sure. Let's hope he caps it off with a super bowl victory and a super bowl MVP trophy!

Wow what a player and an even better person. I will definitely miss watching him play when he retires. Just hoping he gets at least one more ring and plays well doing it just to silence the remaining critics...

I sure hope keeping him out in the 2nd half doesn't backfire. The NFL goes back and checks the stats on every game and you never know if a yard was missed here or there. In theory they could take the record away. That said this was a season for the ages. I really hope the NFL never goes 18 games because his new TD record could stand for a long, long time.

The last drive that got the record was perfectly orchestrated for it. He needed 70 yards starting from the Denver 11. By the time they got to 1nG he only needed five more yards.... from the Oakland 5. It was almost like he planned it that way.

Also, because of Peyton Manning...the broncos are the only team in history to achieve/surpass 600 points in a season. And, I'm not sure if Peyton threw for at least 300 yards today because I never did hear what his total pass yards were for todays game, but if he did throw for at least 300 yards then it would be the most 300 yard games by a qb in a single season which is previously held by brees for 2011....nevertheless...Well Done PM!!! Glad you are by our accounts the GREATEST QB in HISTORY!!!! Equally Glad u r a VFL!!!!GBO!!!!

Peyton didn't play in the second half, so he finished with precisely the 266 yards he needed to break the single-season yardage record.

While he's got several records this year, I won't be satsfied until he gets another Super Bowl ring to bring the season to end.

Since Peyton has been busily shattering record after record, these are his single-game targets for the Super Bowl:

Most Passes Completed:
32 Tom Brady, New England vs. Carolina, XXXVIII
Drew Brees, New Orleans vs. Indianapolis, XLIV

Most Consecutive Completions:
16 Tom Brady, New England vs. N.Y. Giants, XLVI

Highest Completion Percentage (20 attempts):
88.0 Phil Simms, N.Y. Giants vs. Denver, XXI (22-25)

Most Yards Gained:
414 Kurt Warner, St. Louis vs. Tennessee, XXXIV

Longest Pass Completion:
85 Jake Delhomme (to Muhammad), Carolina vs. New England, XXXVIII (TD)

Highest Average Gain (20 attempts):
14.71 Terry Bradshaw, Pittsburgh vs. Los Angeles, XIV (21-309)

Most Touchdown Passes:
6 Steve Young, San Francisco vs. San Diego, XXIX

Most Attempts, Without Interception:
48 Tom Brady, New England vs. N.Y. Giants, XLII (Super Bowl Records: Individual - Passing)

Hopefully, Peyton will shatter each of them emphatically, just for the benefit of the naysayers who have so foolishly dogged him.

I have a hard time believing that Brady didn't care about the records. Why go for 16-0 when #1 seed was locked up at 14-0? Why did he force the ball to Moss over and over vs the Giants in week 17 until he got TD #50?

Nobody hates losing as much as Peyton Manning. I've heard is not a very pleasant person to be around immediately after a loss.

I have a hard time believing ANYONE doesn't care about records, at least when they get close to breaking them.
