Hasn’t been the same nor could it be. But many of us think it’s worth continuing. And many think otherwise.
Opinions ?

Lady Vols has to start winning against Uconn. That is why it feels different..Its not about the coaches

I think both schools would like it to continue, but UConn’s insistence on playing the game in January or February makes it difficult for UT to schedule it.

agree,,,to schedule such a team during the heart of our conference run is foolish
for them it is wise bc they are in a wealer conference and if we are ranked high enough it bolsters their standing
It's not a win-win,,it's a win-when

I believe the game has always been played during one of those two months (not counting the years when they played twice a year). By that time both teams would have jelled, with Pat and Geno using the game as a measuring stick going into the NCAA tournament. Right now, UConn plays South Carolina also during January or February for the same purpose.

I wouldn’t have a problem if we were actually competitive in the games. It’s no fun to lose but to lose to them, makes it worse for me!

And after Geno’s halftime meltdown last season, it only intensified my disdain for him and could’ve potentially rekindled some fire in the series, but then we came out in the 2nd half and got blown out! 🥴

But with the way the SEC is shaping up, with transfers and Texas and Oklahoma on the horizon, I’m not opposed to ditching the game if it’s scheduled in the middle of SEC play.

I understand the reasons for it. My point is that it makes actually scheduling the game more difficult. Every SEC team gets one Thursday and one Sunday/Monday off from a conference play. That only leaves two spots in the schedule for the game to appear. Connecticut has to have that space available as well, or at least their Conference has to be willing to adjust its schedule to fit where Tennessee’s (and/or South Carolina’s) opening is.

Hasn’t been a relevant matchup. Kinda feels like two former high school sweethearts past their prime trying to rekindle old glories and sneak into the prom hoping to become the main attraction. It has been hard to look at as of late….

More like one former sweetheart who is still looking good and attracting attention and the other who got wrinkled and slouchy and lost her looks
put pines for the good 'ole days.

In this case, the one who got wrinkled and slouchy and lost his looks.

(Assuming there has been no identity change lately).

I could care less if we never meet them again ......unless and until ( as another poster stated ) they must meet in NCAA tourney either the 2nd or 3rd weekend ,ie,Elite 8 or Final 4.

It was restarted because of the coaches. It was done in the name of donating to Pat's cause and Geno was on board with it.

But winning would help yes but as another poster said with Texas and OK coming to the SEC it might not even be feasible in the future.

I am excited to see this year's schedule ... Always feels like ours is the last to be released 😂

It does nothing for our school or program at all. Force Geno to play in his podunk conference all year rather than give him great competition during his regular season. Let them see it for the first time when they see it.

I know without UT on the schedule they are left with a bunch of pushovers ;
Ball State
Dayton
Louisville
Notre Dame
Maryland
Minnesota
NC State
South Carolina
Texas
Cayman Island Classic (11/24-25, 2 games, possibility of playing LSU or VT)
North Carolina

If we dumped them and forced them into primariy staying within their own conference for competition, it's reasonable to believe the Louisville's, ND's, and South Cackcalack's would do the same. There's nothing good for anyone but UCONN playing them out of conference during the midst of conference games. Vug UCONN.

It's not "reasonable" at all. We didn't play them for a decade and it didn't prevent other programs from scheduling games with them. And that's when Pat decided to end the games. Who was certainly more influential than CKJH is today.

Certainly do not understand this post. UConn always plays one of the toughest out of conference schedules in the country. So far, Tennessee hasn't been one of those schools, so even though we won't be playing them this year, not playing this game does not poke a hole in their strength of schedule. If Kellie can start securing good High School talent and not having to rely on the portal, that will make Tennessee more consistent and can build towards being a big-time player again. The have done pretty good lately, but the lack of High School recruits will hamper them to stay relevant, no matter how good the coaching is.
