I understand your situation and dilemma more than you could possibly consider.
consider:
- I believe females are more capable than they themselves think they are.
- I teach them moves and mentalities done by male professionals and have the expectations of them being able to duplicate them
- I reward performance on the practice court and game court,,,and am not influenced by my individual personal feelings or relationship within my teams
- I see piss poor acceptance of mechanics being taught all the way through the upper echelon programs (missed bunnies, flipping instead of placing a layup, two-hand releases on jump-hooks, acceptance of high turnovers, etc) and know that it is not a reflection of their inabilities, it is a reflection of their coaching and teachers.
- I am an admitted full-on Alpha male coaching females exclusively
- I believe in myself enough to say I am the best skills and mechanics coach...Period!
Now, who do I have as a
male coach with similar attributes and personal considerations to be my example to follow?
The male coach most despised in this vicinity...Geno Auriemma.
Thus my dilemma.
Re the portal...It isn't what it was.
It is now an opportunity for elite players to move much easier to more competitive environments and it is in its infancy in that respect.
So kudos for Coach Kellie to realize this NOW and not later.
At some point it will slow down and even out, but right now the portal is a quick fix and TN LV's needed such a fix and would not put up with any coach who couldn't do it.
Kellie is doing what she had to to get back in the top tier and is now much more prominent and focused on HS recruiting.
People here know me and I don't sugar-coat for Coach Kellie, so if I am complimenting her on something, it is not as a fan or as an opportunity to blow smoke up her proverbial behind...It is because she deserves the accolade.
