I agree with you that it can be a rallying point. I don't think I would want to look back on my UT playing career and have that be one of the accomplishments that I remembered. I would want to focus on the wins, not the losses.
All I'm saying is that it's really nothing to brag about. Tell you what, the next time you're in a group of people talking football, I'm talking LSU, UF, Bama, USC, Michigan, Ohio State fans, I want you to pull this stat out. Tell me the looks you get.

Not in a "we're better than you because of this" way but in an interesting historical standpoint.
Really not losing 8 games in a season is just below total program wins. Nobody really cares about what UT or Michigan or whoever did in the 1930s. People barely care about what a program did before the 80s.
It's not a chest-beating statline but it is something to be proud of as we're one of 2 schools that can claim that.
