I have the distinct pleasure of working in alabalambaland and have iterated this stat to people.

Not in a "we're better than you because of this" way but in an interesting historical standpoint.

Really not losing 8 games in a season is just below total program wins. Nobody really cares about what UT or Michigan or whoever did in the 1930s. People barely care about what a program did before the 80s.

It's not a chest-beating statline but it is something to be proud of as we're one of 2 schools that can claim that.

Sorry you live in Bama and have to deal with Bammers. I live in FL but it's not too bad dealing with Gators in Sarasota.

I would put this stat a little further down on the resume:

Total wins
Win %
National titles
Conference title
Bowl appearances
Bowl wins
Hall of Fame members
Heisman winners
All-Americans
Other award winners

maybe I would put it somewhere in here.

I think it's a cool stat. It says even when we have our crappiest teams, we still will win 4 or 5 games! At least we don't lay down and piss on ourselves like all the other teams have done when the going gets tough. Only two teams in the nation that can say that. It's not that we are touting it, it's just a stat that is neat little sidebar. UT has many great stats. We have a lot of the best ones in the best conference, SEC.

No different than any other fans on team forums. That includes UT and FL forums. You will find certain fans that live in Disney World all year long... :)

It's a neat stat. Particularly given that only two schools can claim it.

But I agree with Boca to the extent that it's not so much an accomplishment as it is avoiding a slightly worse failure.
