Cooper Mays issues reminder Nico Iamaleava

What a lot of folks are forgetting.

"I will say it's not comparable, personally," said Mays when asked about the comparison between Hooker and Iamaleava. "That would be like saying to me four years ago to compare me to -- I was a whole different person four years ago, you know what I'm saying. When I was 19 years old -- you're not comparable to a 25 year old.

"Nico's great in his own right and a different kind of leader. I'm sure he'll end up being different (as he ages). It's hard to be compered to somebody that's -- I think Hendon was six years in? That's a real grown man. Most people are married with kids by the age of 25."

A to Z Sports? Geeze, who writes this stuff? "Compered"

That feeling when 29 with no kids no wife no girlfriend thanks a lot Cooper
Just add a gold chain, rumors of 9 mil in the bank, and some swagger and *you're back in the game, baby!

(predictions based on MSRP and small town cheap bar social dynamics; individual results may vary)

Oh, I remember it well: long before Vol Nation & other social media, many talk show "experts" preferred Brandon over Peyton. Didn't take long for the superior QB to rise to the top. Stewart transferred to TX Tech or the like, disappearing into pigskin oblivion. Peyton's story is well-chronicled. The coaches knew when the "fans" didn't (again).

I had friends that thought he was the next coming of Heath Shuler. Didn’t know why we were messing with Peyton Manning. They thought he was just a name. I said that I thought David Cutcliffe knew more about quarterbacks than I did.

That being said, Stewart was a good college quarterback, but he was no Peyton Manning obviously.

While I understand CM’s point; an $8 million NIL raises expectations and scrutiny no matter the age.

He was pretty damn good. Led A&M to some big wins in the Big 12 that helped us ascend to the top of the rankings, late in the 1998 season. A great irony there

Stewart was a very good QB, but he was nowhere close to P Manning.

PS—I hope we aren’t going to get into another one of these discussions!

So true. David Cutcliffe was a superb OC & QB coach. He's the one who developed both Peyton & Eli Manning into great field generals.

People forget that people were calling for Brandon Stewart to be the starter over Peyton Manning. Who is Brandon again?
Simply a case of, “you don’t know what you don’t know.” We had nothing to compare the two, so fans being fans could not be patient enough to let it work its way out. After Peyton took over then it was very plain.

I have never heard of 25 year olds with kids. That's the craziest thing I ever heard.

I see lots of young adults with children at that age. With the early start programs they have these days, one can finish college by the time they are 20, maybe even earlier. And some don't go to college after learning a trade either in high school or a year or so at a Jr. College.

Probably rare for some who are going to be in college for 4 to 6 years and transfer to 6 different schools as it would be hard to constantly relocate with a child.

But is more normal that you think.

The difference (I think) is that Peyton was more of a student of the game who would spend hours on his own watching tape.

I just turned 80. I don’t remember much about being young as much as
I remember ( and regret) doing some really stupid things.
I'm a few years behind you but it seems almost every day now I suddenly remember something incredibly stupid, insensitive, or down right mean I did when much younger. And never felt ashamed, foolish, or guilty about it until now. Seems a bit odd but it's happening more each day. Often wished I could go back and correct it...but, alas, tis to much proverbial water under the bridge!

I have. With a 2 month old. Wonders why he's stressed. 😟
Yeah I was being sarcastic because of several posts mocking Cooper for his comment and i thought it was weird because I've known many 25 and under with kids. Not out of the norm at all in the world I walk around in.

And if you're talking about you, sorry dude. Don't let that get you down. A child is a blessing.
