Could recruits earn CPG another year

I agree that the Bama game is the main decider right now. I think a win, and he is definitely safe (assuming that we go 3-1 or 4-0 down the stretch). And I don't really think recruiting for one year should play into the decision. We have a long history of results from him coaching that Hamilton can go by when he decides what to do.

If you are going to use Fulmer's entire career, then he is not getting fired. He is a future HOFamer.

As far as recruiting, it is 1/2 of the job. Not only that, we have to recruit nationally. So the AD won't just look at this incoming class. He will look at the talent that is here already, and the talent that will be coming next year. 06 was good, 07 was great, 08 sucked, 09 Awesome.

Butch Davis is the only canidate who is capable of matching CPF success within 4 years. Either way, we keep the 09 class which is essential to short term success at UT. Any other up-in-comer and we become the Arkansas of the East.

What good is great talent when you have a coaching staff that can not develop it? See 2000 to 2008. Not one of these recruits have SIGNED with UT, just commitments.

I do not understand the logic here. The man lives and bleeds Tennessee football. Even if we do eventually have to make a move we should be pulling for them to turn it around this season until we know the time has come. I mean what the hell? We yelled and screamed for years that we needed new blood on offense, now he goes out and gets it and the offense struggles and we happen to be breaking in a new quarterback. I think the man deserves another year to see what Clawson can do, finish this recruiting class, and we have more stability on offense. Some of you people are so blinded by your hatred of Fulmer that it wouldn't matter what he did.

I think for some this may be true.

Its hard to beleive that CPF would forget how to coach or get worse at it, and I don't think that is the case. I just think he has failed to get better. These new and young coaches are surpassing Fulmer in almost every way. But I dont hate the guy. He has done more for UT football than almost anyone.

I don't hate Fulmer one bit. I want him off the sidelines though. If he was to leave after this year, I would still respect him for everything he did at UT. If he stays around 5 more years getting 8 wins a pop just to get Neyland's record, I will lose all respect for him.
