Initial opinion - not as bad as I thought it was going to be, although there are some stinkers on there. A lot of repetitive songs as well. As I mentioned yesterday, a good example of why albums are 10 - 12 songs. I think he could’ve trimmed it down to 20 and still had a really good album with no real complaints.

Anyway, I appreciate the idea and thought process that went into his album, but I hope no one does it again.

I got two copies of his album. I bought through Walmart at first in February, it was supposed to arrive in May of last year. Come August it still hadn’t arrived. Bought through his website, canceled my Walmart order. The one from his website came in about three weeks, The Walmart came in January of this year and I wasn’t charged for it lol

Closest BJ probably gets to a hometown show. Going up against a Paul McCartney show here in town too. Interesting booking

Sam Foster was the opener and it was easy to figure out why BJ picked them. Already bought two of his cds

I’ve at least heard Time Sawyer. He already sounds like Croce, so when they played Speedball, I decided I’ll be a fan

I mean nothing crazy crazy. But like I said, WS is about as close as BJ gets to Reidsville, so it’s been a very energetic crowd every time. Like 90% as into it as Raleigh was. So BFD and IHHBYH are very very very crowed driven. They closed with Katherine Belle and that kind of went off the rails. BJ was explaining how he wrote in a Pub next to Columbia, SC when he wrote KB. Apparently some of the worst of BJ has come out in that pub and it turned out that Rhett’s first weekend or so with the band was one of BJ’s absolute worst. Rhett spoke into the monitor microphone and told the band (None of which are from that era) some part of the story and we all missed out.

Also, about halfway through they played All I Needed and BJ hinted not to believe the first two songs as expectations for Chicamacomico. Anyone thinking it’s not full of sad songs are playing into his hands…

Then, before the encore, holy sh**. Maybe it was the moment, but he played a song that made Chicamacomico and Waking up the Echoes seem mild. He stunned the whole audience. Then he played the same song he Rhett played in Raleigh together before bringing out the whole band for KB.

Just finished ZB’s…. I could listen to the whole entire thing again and not skip a song. He somehow has at least one line in each song that hits home hard.
